Ilse is a gracious host and because her cats stay in the apartment, she regularly tidied it up upon notice that we were going out for the day. That is why it was always fresh-smelling despite pets' presence. Her place has provided us with a quiet and comfortable stay in Amsterdam for a week.
The bus station that takes you within half an hour to the center is right at her doorstep! There is a lovely mini-canal and the green view of Amsterdam Forest (from the kitchen and dining room side). Amsterdamse Bos, that's what the forest is called, is a beautiful natural attraction in itself. Best for morning or afternoon walks under the sun, and people-watching.
The grocery Aldi may be reached on foot in under 5 minutes. Just cross the road and enter the pathways through the opposite residential areas, it will be easy to spot. We went there to buy food that we prepared in Ilse's complete kitchen, which made us save a lot of money while traveling.
However, there's also a fine dining restaurant nearby called La Veranda. Turn left upon going down the stairs from her apartment and follow the road. You will pass Amsterdamse Bos' entrance at your left, it tells you that you are close. The menu in the resto are worth your bucks.
Our stay was also made special with the help of her entertaining co-hosts, Snoes & Proud. We miss Proud's wake-up call in the morning and the two cats' playfulness! (Word of caution though: As most cats are to strangers, they do not want to be petted or touched. Let them come to you voluntarily and they will, once they sense good energy!)
We will surely recommend Ilse's apartment and come back ourselves when in Amsterdam.

(We are also abnb hosts of a nature apartment in Subic Bay, Philippines, that is why we appreciated Ilse's efforts to keep her hosting nice and easy for guests.)
