We booked Mount View Guesthouse for two nights in April 2014, and got a double bedded room with a stylish shower and toilet, integrated in the room and separated from it with frosted glass – very modern. The beautiful glass basin was next to the bed which was … different.
Mount View Guesthouse is a typical town house, more than 100 years old. High ceilings, wooden floors, antique fireplaces and little space to the properties next to it.
The place was spotless clean, and the bed and linen were from very good quality. There was free WIFI and a ceiling fan in addition to the aircon. And you are right in the hustle and bustle of Seapoint and can even walk to restaurants and to the seafront.
There is no parking on the premises, so one has to park on the road, which was absolutely okay in this area.
Joe, our host, was helpful when we asked for help. But he also referred to the information booklet provided in the room which gave a detailed house rule list and more information. We feel this is a bit impersonal and a tourist might prefer more personal touch.
The breakfast was okay. You’ll find this kind of breakfast all over.
The problem was the noise from the guestroom next door. We could hear everything from our neighbor, the flushing toilet (and other noises), the air con, every single step, and even the beeps from his cell phone, when he used the keypad to type an SMS.
We are aware that the houses in South Africa are not as well insulated as elsewhere, but this was a bit too much for us, that’s we decided to check-out after one night and forfeit the second night. Pity: Joe wasn’t there when we wanted to check out, so we needed to call him to get the procedure for a self-check-out.
