The space

Casa Gran
... is an old Miravet townhouse and was probably build arround 1900. Its former original name was "Ca la Maca" which means good looking. Previously in this house lived the servants of the high society of the bigger townhouse "Ca la Palao".
In 2006 the sisters Holmes from Scottland started to rebuild the whole building and restored the little Casa Petita. With meticulous attention to detail they gave the old house back its traditional spanish character.
This is a rare opportunity to experience a luxury holiday rental accommodation and one of the most spectacular views over the River Ebro. Nestled in the historic village of Miravet, the Casa Grande has undergone full restoration resulting in a perfect balance between the contemporary and the traditional.
Thought to be one of the most magnificent houses in Miravet, the accommodation allows visitors the opportunity to experience everything that the area offers whilst living in total comfort.
Miravet is one of the most charming villages in Catalonia and probably in the whole of Spain. Miravet is located in the Southern province of Tarragona around 1h30 from Barcelona by car and only 45 minutes from Reus international airport.

One of the most important tourist attractions is the Templar castle.

This medieval castle of Miravet is one of the best conserved fortresses in Europe and the largest defensive castle in Catalonia as well as the best example of medieval military structures in the West. In fact, the castle was originally built by the Arabs before the Templars took it in 1153 during the Spanish Reconquista and re-structured to transform it into the most colossal and inaccessible Christian military base. In fact, the impregnable castle of Miravet was in the early medieval times on the border between the Arab world (South) and the Christian kingdom (North). The Templar castle of Miravet is one if the key monuments in Catalonia not only because if its impressive structure, location and Romanesque art but also because of the role it has played in the History of the country.

The Templar castle of Miravet is very well-conserved. You will enjoy admiring the walls, the inner enclosures (wine cellar, storerooms, stables, refectory, bedrooms, etc) and the medieval architecture.

There is much more to discover! You´ll find the single-naved and
basilica-shaped 13th Century Romanesque church, with barrel vault and
semicircular apse and of course, the magnificent views over the Ebro valley and the breath-taking landscapes.

Driving to Miravet, you should not miss the historical ferry across the river Ebro (the last one of its kind). The ferry is powered only by the river current. As you cross the river at a leisurely pace you have a chance to take in the beautiful views of the Miravet skyline.

Miravet is also renowned for its traditional pottery. From vases to souvenirs, lose yourself in the Catalan art traditions and bring back a piece of Miravet with you. And don´t miss the fiestas and sport events, they are well organized by the ajuntament of Miravet and a highlight of your trip.
Miravet is indeed one of the most charming villages in Catalonia so if you
want to discover a really typical and picturesque Spanish village then
you must visit Miravet.

An absolutely delightful place to stay in gorgeous Miravet. Jane has done a spectacular job of renovating the building and creating superbly comfortable and tasteful accommodations. The attention to detail was so impressive. Breakfast was delicious. We wished we could have stayed longer.

I am more than sorry for this comment (for my fellow AirBnb-users), but: this place is WAY TOO cheap for what it offers. Apart from the charming host I don't know where to start: the cute village, the lovely house, the spectacular view from the room, the amazing breakfast, the love for details of the decoration of each room, everything was just perfect! We slept the day after at another b&b and had the total opposite experience: it was all okay at the other place, but lacked these extra(s) and love of Jane's place which made the stay at her's not just a stay but a really relaxing and wonderful experience.

El lugar es hermoso, tiene unas vistas fantásticas desde la habitación. La atención es muy personal, Jane es una gran anfitriona. Lamento no haberme podido quedar más tiempo. Muy recomendable.

Bona experiència. L'habitació i la casa estava molt neta. Unes vistes a l'ebre espectaculars des de l'habitació. Els llits molt còmodes i l'esmorzar molt complert. L'amfitriona molt amable. Bona experiència, per a repetir-hi!

Hi, I am Jane,
I am originally from Germany. My better half and me moved to Spain in 2016 because we have fallen in love to this charming little village in Catalunya. When we bought Casa Petita we decided to make it cozy and comfortable just like -we love it- and offer it to our guests.
We hope you will have an unforgettable time in Miravet.
