Come to the incredible mountains and private Quintas Del Bosque. six guest are split into 2 guests in one cottage, and remaining 4 guests are on the lower level of the main house with separate entrance. Exotic bamboos, flowers, fruit trees, herbs & gardens to stroll or sit. Experience the mountain vistas, where you breathe, do yoga, think, read & relax. Access to BBQ area & staff help. Incredible waterfalls are a short 20 minute walk from the house & 3km hiking trails.

The space
Bring a good book to read and your hiking boots. We live in the exclusive Quintas del Bosque gated mountain development. You accommodation is split into two spaces - the Cob Cottage and the two room suite on the lower level of the main house with its own bathroom. Each area has its own kitchen, deck / dining / living area and full bathroom.

The rustic two story cottage with spacious covered quarters upstairs including an open kitchen, large deck giving you a tree house feel, and shower and toilet, and your cozy bedroom with queen bed below, that you access from the outside stairs.

The second space is the two guest rooms for four people, in a separate area that is a stand alone rooms below our main house. There are two bedrooms and a bathroom on that level. The master bedroom has a queen bed and a massage table in a spacious room. The second guestroom has twin bunk beds.

Each pace has its own is a fully stocked outdoor kitchen with hot and cold running water, gas stove top, small fridge, gas BBQ grill at the suite, and all the utensils, pots and dishes to cook with. Just bring your food. It is undercover and cool with the breeze.

Our home, property and guest spaces were created with 4 elements in mind - adventure, imagination, love and nature. "Casa del Fuego" will surround you with lush gardens – filled with exotic bamboo, flowers, fruit trees, herbs, coffee trees and gardens to stroll and sit in while gazing out upon the mountain vistas. Park your car and let the adventures take over. Walk from your cottage as much or as little. 3 km of hiking trails have been cut on the estate with amazing views. In the opposite direction are incredible waterfalls a short 20 minute walk from the house.

This property is NOT suitable for young children as there are steep slopes, walkways and decks with little or no railings.

Besides enjoying the gardens, you can walk around the estate following the roads. In the spring we have flocks of parrots. Summer is filled with hummingbird by day and fireflies at night.

Air conditioning is not needed. When it's hot there is always a spot to be in the shade or go down to the stream or wander over to the waterfalls. The bedrooms stay cool. Winter day time temperature is perfect and in the evenings a long sleeve is all you may need.

If you love to write, enjoy painting and sketching, play a musical instrument, this is the place to be inspired. Bring your yoga mat and find your perfect spot to meditate. You will have the feeling of being in the mountains. Across the valley you can barely see the other houses. You have total privacy.

Jacques is around on the grounds based on what hours you want, so if you need anything, call for him.

When you need to totally disconnect from TV, loud music and constant technology, then this is the place for you as none is offered. This is a break from the hustle and bustle of an over-stimulated world, where you breathe, think, read and relax.
THIS IS NOT A PARTY HOUSE.

Guest access
While the main house is built on three levels, guests have the entire lower level that has a separate entrance, deck with covered California Kitchen, dining table for complete privacy. The main bedroom has a queen bed and also a massage table. The other bedroom has two single-sized bunk beds. Off the two rooms is the stone full bathroom with unlimited hot water. You also have a California Kitchen with all you will need to cook, including a gas BBQ. Best get all your food supplies in town before driving to the house as its too relaxing to want to leave.
Then we have the separate cob cottage which is our other guest structure. This is two levels.
In one of the gardens is a gravel area with a big stone wood-fired BBQ and seats to relax surrounded by gardens.

Other things to note
If you are flying in the airport is Santiago (STI) and its a 45 min drive to the house.
You are renting a house in the country side and to be close to nature. You may hear a rooster crowing in the distance and at night you will see no bright lights.
While WiFi is available throught, there are times it gets spotty.
To access the property you will pass two security stations that are staffed 24 hrs a day.
There are many things to do if you want to leave the grounds and play further afield. Drive the newly built road to Constanza that winds through the mountains. Great spot for a day trip and lunch. A shorter drive is to Manaboa and La Ceniga with views of the river. A new road is being built on this scenic drive. There are other drives through the mountains that will require 4by4 but these are two must do drives. If you rent a 4by4 have our security staff tell you how to get up to Lo Lamita, the tiny village above our development 6 km away. It is worth a visit to see the campo.
You can also go white water rafting from one of two outfits. For the serious hiker, have Jacques take you on a 4 to 6 hr hike from the house up El Magorte for breath taking views. Our neighbor is a several hundred year old active monastery at the base of the hike.

We live in one of the top mountain developments in the Caribbean, Quintas del Bosque. Walking distance from the house are two waterfalls. The first is an easy 20 min hike. This falls is about 30 ft high. The second falls is another 45 min hike from here. You will hike in and out of the river and it is about 80 feet high and spectacular. Both waterfalls have wonderful pools to swim in.
Recently 2 miles of hiking trails were built on the estate. Bring your hiking shoes. Park your car and walk from our home to breath taking views where the only sounds you will hear are the birds singing or the water gurgling.
Our eastern neighbor is an active monastery with 10 monks. They offer Sunday mass and a gift shop.
On the estate are about 35 homes built but used for weekend getaways mostly.
Town is a 10 minute drive should you decide to explore the local markets and eateries.

I am an adventurer, solo around the world racing yachtsman, award winning author, motivational keynote speaker and lover of life. I live for great experiences and have helped in diplomatic issues and peace talks. Much time is spent mentoring young people including teaching macro-economics at several universities, sailing, playing in my garden and traveling the globe. My friends span all corners of the world. I have no time for drama. When visiting us I enjoy stimulating conversations and will give you a tour of our gardens explaining why I have chosen to create this environment. Some of my favorite places range from Thailand because of the great street food, cheap massages and friendly, smiling people. We love Cape Town, South Africa with its great mountains and beaches, vineyards and orchards and resilient, polite people. Portugal and Ireland are special because of all our close friends there. As a motivational speaker I have experienced many countries and cultures, enjoying the finest hotels. But we always add on extra days to throw a backpack on and travel like a local. I have had the privilege of experiences over 100 countries. I have also sailed to some of the most remote corners of our planet. Currently I am writing my third book based on our travels, people we have come to know and cultures we have loved. I will cover economic injustice, social reforms, what a civil society should resemble to how we can add to our world and create a sustainable legacy.

During your stay
We live in the main house part time, but Jacques comes in every day. He will help you with what ever your needs are and take you out to the waterfalls for a tip. While his duties are to maintain the grounds and gardens, he is most willing to help you with what ever your need are. Show your appreciation with a tip when you leave. If you want to explore the surrounding countryside, we suggest taking Jacques with you as your guide. There are no road signs so local knowledge helps.
