We had a lovely time in Sicily, and Roberto's place really added to our great stay. The location of the apartment is great, quick access to everything. Check in was very easy. A tip, take the funicular to the beach- it's just around the corner from Roberto's apartment, as is the main bus station, where you can take day trips or go to/from the airport. The apartment itself was very clean and very big- we had so much space! I would stay here again! Thank you, Roberto!
A friend of Roberto's met us and helped with our bags as we needed to park on an adjacent street- only about 3 mins walk. We were also lent a residents' parking pass so we were able to leave our car relatively nearby throughout our stay which was a big help and cost us nothing. The house is just off the main tourist street ( Corso Umberto) with all the shops and restaurants but is tucked away and very quiet and so convenient. No uphill walking required! We had not realised that Roberto runs the house as a B&B to individuals as well as sometimes renting out the whole house so the set up was a little different to what we were expecting. The house is spacious with 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The rooms are decorated in a functional, slightly dated style but everything was clean and well equipped. My daughter was able to make use of the desks that were provided in some of the rooms for her revision! Our family with 2 older teens appreciated the privacy and space. There was a choice of sitting areas including outside on the terrace as it was quite warm. There were some provisions left for us for breakfast even though we were not expecting this- yoghurts, milk, juice , jams, teas and some long life pastries. Roberto met us on our departure day to check everything had been ok and throughout had messaged us to make sure we could contact him if we needed anything. All in all this was a good place for us to stay in Taormina.
Roberto was a real star. He communicated with us from the start of our enquiry process quickly and with lots of informatiion. We had hired a rental car and had become a little lost. Roberto came to find us, took us to Josepha House to unload and then took us on a tour of Taormina to show where we could park with the Tourist parking ticket that he very kindly let us have for the duration of our stay. The house is spacious, clean and nicely presented. It has a couple of lovely terraces, one next to the kitchen and living room that has a table and chairs on it. It was warm enough to eat outside (with warm clothes on!), even in early March, as this terrace is sheltered by the surrounding buildings. Roberto provided some groceries, orange juice and milk - which was great when you arrive tired and feeling lazy from the travelling. The house is on top of one residence and underneath another and is directly next to the Messina gate and Corso Umberto (the main tourist area), but is tucked away down a little side alley. it is within walking distance of all the major Taormina Tourist attractions, including the Greek Theatre (which is litterally just a few minutes walk). There is a slightly more strenuous walk climbing steps up to the Sanctuary of Madonna Della Rocca (passing the 14 "stations" in respect of the cross). This was closed whilst we were there, but well worth the climb as the view is unbelievable - especially if you carry on to Castel Mola. Fantastic! Taormina is highly recommended - stunningly beautiful and Josepha House was an excellent "home from home" from which to explore Taormina and the surrounding areas.
