About this listing

We are being challenged by the Town of Durham regarding use of Air BnB and conforming use of our property. Their issue seems to be with the property as a BnB. Therefore - although there is always fresh coffee in the kitchen, I am not offering breakfast at this point.

The space

Private room and bath in Durham less than 1 miles from T-Hall on campus.
Great location when visiting campus for school, work or recreation.
Eclectic Durham Point property, set in the woods with a contemporary lodge feel. I've renovated the property over the last five years to create a comfortable, live work environment, as I run my business from the property.
The original building on the property was an 1880's stone cottage, originally belonging to the family that lived in what is now the Three Chimneys Inn building. The main house was added in the late sixties, as early contemporary design. The guest room is on the first floor of the house, my living area is on the second floor.
Guests have access to the entire ground floor area, living space, decks and yard. The entry area has a nice koi pond, the back decks are comfortable seating areas, overlooking the woods with wind chimes, and gas fire tables.
The guest room has a comfortable queen bed, TV with cable, closet and dresser storage. There is wireless internet on the property. The bath is connected directly to the guest room and private to guests. Outfitted with marble top vanity, tub/shower unit with glass doors and tile floors.
I share the house with my dog, Poo-da-lee, a cock-a-poo. Being a poodle mix, she is relatively hypoallergenic having hair, not fur. Very friendly. Her photo is amongst the pictures. As technically we are not an BnB - although there is always coffee on - we do not serve breakfast.

Durham Point is a beautiful area, backing on the Oyster River and Great Bay. We're 1 mile from the center of the UNH campus and 10 miles from Portsmouth. Pricing on the unit is $ 95 Sun-Thurs, $125 Fri /Sat.

My host made me feel very welcome, his house was extra-ordinarily pleasant and charming, the bed was comfortable, the shower was fantastic. James was very welcoming in the morning and served good coffee and breakfast. We only stayed there briefly, en route somewhere else, but it was extremely pleasant, peaceful and welcoming.

James' home was lovely, comfortable, and quiet. His little dog is such a delight and so friendly. Coffee and fruit was waiting us every morning. The attached bathroom is very nice to have in a shared space like this one. We didn't spend much time there, but it was a haven to return to each evening of our trip.

Everything around my stay here was excellent. James is a superb host. He made sure I had everything I needed to feel at home. The house is beautiful, with a design that is both modern and cosy. It's truly an architectural masterpiece. James and I shared some great conversations and discovered some common interests. He was very generous to share some of his knowledge about web marketing. I look forward to staying with him again, and absolutely recommend him as a host.

The beauty of this house was only outdone by Jame's helpfulness to make me feel at home. The home is an architectural gem and was so relaxing after my business trip. Be sure to read the directions to the house since the house is set back from the road.
