Clean, bright one-bedroom apt with private roof deck located in Lower Nob Hill/Chinatown.  Centrally located with short walk to Union Square (10 min), North Beach and Fisherman's Wharf.  A great location for experiencing the heart of San Francisco!

The space

This third story 1920's apartment (2 flights of stairs) is located on the cable car line and close to muni for exploring the city.  If you need a breather from exploring, you can stay close to home and walk to great restaurants, coffee shops or sit on your private roof deck with beautiful views of the Bay Bridge, Treasure Island and the spires of St Peter and Paul’s in North Beach.  Great central location for those wanting to see the sights. Walk score: 100.

The apartment has one large bedroom/ one bath with lots of windows.  New furniture with comfortable recliner to relax in at the end of your day.  You will get a true city experience living in an apartment with SF city sounds (cable cars) so if you are a light sleeper, ear plugs are recommended!  The apartment has new double-pane windows.

Cable guide for available channels is in media cabinet.

Please Remove Shoes: As a courtesy to our tenants below, please remove your shoes while inside the apartment. Our downstairs neighbors would really appreciate it.

Heaters: Use the portable heaters only. Instructions are in the appliance binder in the closet if needed. I use the small bedroom heater for white noise at night ( lowest setting for fan noise and no heat).

“Air Conditioning”: There is no air conditioning (it is rarely needed in the city) however, you can create a nice breeze through the apartment by propping open the roof deck door and opening a window in the kitchen and front living room window.

Roof Deck Access: Number Key Pad Code - 2525 (to get back in apartment).
Please be courteous to our neighbors and keep noise and music level down in the evening. No deck use after 11:00 p.m. Voices and noise travel in the neighborhood and we’re trying not to become “the neighbors that make all the noise.” No more than 8-10 people allowed on the deck.

Lantern is in the kitchen cabinet near the table and on the stairway, if needed. Feel free to use the extra jackets, blankets and scarves.

Please cover furniture on rainy days and if not in use in the evening. The deck is typically wet in the morning from night fog.

Bose Sound Dock -also charges phone. Remote and iphone adapter are in blue bowl. You must use the remote for the sound system to work.
You may need to remove your phone cover. It is okay to bring up on the deck but bring it in after use and plug back in to recharge unit.

Sofa Bed with air mattress: Air pump, blankets and pillows are located in the wicker baskets (closet and living room). Sheets are in the grey boxes in the closet.
To close the couch, remove sheets and all the air. Make sure you do not force the bed back into couch. Move the mattress towards the foot of the bed to make it easier. Be gentle.

Garbage: Go down stairway in middle of building to basement level. Door is located next to apt 4. Make sure the door does not lock behind you-keep door propped open. There is a recycling bin.

Blow Dryer: Located under the bathroom sink.

Iron: There is an iron in the hall closet. The ironing board is built in the kitchen wall.

Laundry: There is a laundry mat on the corner of Pacific and Mason. There is also one near the Gallerie Cafe on Mason Street but it is not in the best condition.

Essentials: Feel free to use sample products e.g. shampoos, soap under sink. Red first aid kit was provided by Airbnb.

Noise: If noise is a problem after 11:00 p.m (besides the cable cars), you can call the Police Non-Emergency Numb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)

Fire Evacuation: Stairs, stairwell down middle of building (access located next to apt. 4) and roof (towards back yard side).

Smoking and Pets: No smoking, pets or parties with more than 8 people are allowed in the apartment.

Kathy provide really clear information making it very easy to arrive at the apartment. It was exactly as anticipated from the description and we were welcomed with a fine bottle of wine and Italian sweet crostini. Being on the cable car line was not a distraction for us, rather it was very 'San Francisco' in atmosphere. The location is fantastic; 2 blocks to Chinatown, 5 blocks to downtown, 5 blocks to North Beach. Kathy was an attentive host making the effort to check to ensure we had everything needed and expected, once we had settled in and was also very accommodating around our departure time late in the day we vacated the apartment. Her information sheets at the apartment are really well presented with lots of local knowledge which we used extensively. The apartment itself was very nicely maintained and presented; a characterful apartment in an attractive renovated SF villa, with all the necessary modern conveniences. The rooftop deck with bar and loungers and barbeque are an added bonus for when the warmer weather occurs. But even in less balmy conditions, the outlook from the roof deck is an interesting bonus. Kathy had made a big effort to add lots of little extras around the apartment to make living easy for guests.

The apartment was clean, attractively decorated and conveniently located. Location on the cable car line gave us a real sense of being in San Francisco, and noise was not problematic. We have already recommended this listing to several friends!

Everything stated was accurate. Omitted was the fact the trolly runs from 6am to 1am outside your window every 20 minutes. But the rooftop deck is worth it.

We spent five nights at Kathy's apartment on our first visit on holidays in San Francisco. The location was very central - we could walk to Union Square, Fisherman's Wharf and Embarcadero (and back if we felt up to the hills!). It is just a few blocks from Top of the Mark and the Fairmont if you are looking for a drink or dinner with views. The place is very stylishly furnished and roomy, and the bed was very comfortable. The private rooftop terrace is a highlight and the views are better than expected as they are not really shown in the listing photos - you can see the Bay Bridge in all it's glory. The welcome bottle of wine was much appreciated. Kathy provided lots of helpful information and was very accommodating to requests. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for inner city, well located accommodation that is more homely than a hotel.

Kathy was a superb host from start to finish. She was very forthcoming with all relevant information and very responsive in replying to messages. The apartment itself is absolutely fantastic, in a great location and furnished to a very high standard. We particularly enjoyed having access to the private roof terrace and use of the kitchen pantry. Compared to higher end hotels in SF the apartment offered superb value along with full amenities and privacy. I would recommend this listing without hesitation.

About Kathy

Joe and I (Kathy) are excited to be hosts in the Air bnb community. We love the concept of sharing our space with our “neighbors” throughout the world.

This apartment is our second home and “get away” place in the city. We live in Aptos -an hour from the city along the coast in the Santa Cruz area (between San Francisco and Monterey/Carmel). We love to come up and experience urban life, get to know more about this amazing city, eat all the wonderful food, and then retreat back to our small coastal town.

Joe works in the commercial real estate business and I am a retired ergonomist-turned Air b-n-b host. If you decide to stay with us, we look forward to hosting and making your stay in San Francisco an easy and memorable one.
