Stunning Lodge on private site. Spectacular views of Lough Mask, valley and mountains. Large decking area for Barbeque and alfresco dining .Ideal place to relax by the evening fire or go for a hike in the mountains and hills . Located at one of the best brown trout lakes in Europe. A guide or package can be arranged if fishing is your sport you've come to the best spot. Ireland's most beautiful towns are a short drive away Westport, Clifden and Ashford Castle, Cong. There is so much to do.

The space

Complete privacy with stunning views from the large decking area or upstairs balcony. As one guest said "through every window is a postcard scene", with one guest even compiling a beautiful book of photography showing the spectacular landscape, sunrises and sunsets. Another guest said that the photographs on the web page usually give a good indication of the property in your case when you arrive the property comes to life and its much better than the photographs

Guest access

The property is on one acre and there is a front and back to the property, in fact you can walk all around the property (best experienced). The entire property is accessible to our guests. When the sun is shining or even on a fresh crisp day sitting out in the complete calm (with the exception of the sound of sheep !) of the property leads you to immediate relaxation.

Interaction with guests

We have a caretaker for the property or we can attend to your needs but we find that the property is so well maintained that guests arrive, relax and usually there is nothing to attend to, but just in case we can be contacted.

Other things to note

The locals are extremely friendly and courteous to our guest and always willing to help with local information and advice on the best restaurants and bars (if that is to your liking) or even good directions for a hike or walk.

-Please note that due to the rural location of the lodge there is only one ISP in the area currently providing internet, so the network can become congested during peak times (connection speed averages 2mbp/s) however off peak you can expect up to 7mbp/s. The WiFi works of a 3G/4G network and the signal can be spotty due to the surrounding mountains. The connection should however be adequate to check those e-mails from work.

James and Maria's house is light and airy with lots of windows, skylights and decks. If you are looking for a retreat to get away from city life this home will meet those needs.

Wonderful location. Very rural, isolated spot with incredible views. Great place for a small group and you can make day trips to Leenaun / Killary Bay, Westport, etc. Cong is about a 25 minute drive and is a good place for dinner, a pint or basic groceries/essentials. There are also some nice walks directly from the property.

Our time at Mask Valley Lodge was fabulous and our host was the best. James took us fishing and what a wonderful exsperience and a great BBQ. From the time we got there to the time we left we were well taken care of. A beutiful place and secluded. We would do it all over again. Wendell
