Our B&B La Maison des Huards is located on the shores of a tranquil, healthy lake (no motor boats), surrounded by nature. Enjoy a rejuvenating stay, with the opportunity to reflect peacefully and renew your sense of well-being.

The space

The guest room has a window with the morning sun and a bay window with a view of the lake and the mountains on the other side. There is also a living room where you can sit on the sofa and observe the birds at the feeder or sit in front of the fireplace in the winter.
If you are a group of three or four people, the couch in the living room can be turned into a double bed.
Our guests don't have access to our kitchen, but we offer dinner with organic food upon request.

Guest access

We are situated on the shore of the lake. You have access to our beach and waterfront where you can go for a swim or rent a kayak (10$/hour) in order to explore other parts of the lake. You can also lie down on a deck chair and enjoy the view over the lake.
Or you can go hiking in the nearby forest and snowshoeing in the winter. Close by is the ski center Montcalm for those who like downhill skiing.
A short drive brings you to the Forêt Ouareau with many miles of hiking possibilities.

Interaction with guests

My husband and I enjoy eating breakfast with our guests. Thanks to them, our breakfast conversations are always most interesting. And we are there all the time in order to answer questions and give hints of what to do and where to go.

Other things to note

For anyone with allergies, there are cats on the premises!

100% recommended! Originally we booked one night at Margit's place. But we decided to change our travel plan to stay another night immediately after we see her place in person and talk to her face to face. The place is even more beautiful than how it looks on the website. My friend was a photographer and he just couldn't stop taking pictures around the place. The views of dawn and sunset were stunning. The rooms are cozy and the beds are comfortable(including the sofabed). There are plenty of activities to do, hiking, swimming, boating, kayaking, and even star watching. Margit also showed us the beaver dams and the endless waterlily. Margit herself is as charming as the place. She makes everything with style. She serves breakfast and dinner with beautiful German dishware and silver utensils. She cooks with organic food freshly picked from her garden and local organic farm. She also cooks the best lasagne! We would definitely come back some Time!

A complete gem of a bed and breakfast. On a quiet lake, remote and lovely.

We had a great time in the House of the Loons( la maison des huards). Margit and Guy are lovely people. Their house is full of positive energy. They have a big garden with lots of flowers and organic plants just near the lake. We highly recommend this place for stay, relax, enjoy nature, swim in the lake and eat organic food.

Margit was a great host and the B&B is in a great location, very quaint and cosy. They were very accommodating as well and made us feel right at home! Would definitely recommend staying here.

Margit User ProfileMargit is a superhost.

I am a German immigrant who fell in love with this country, especially with its beautiful and abundant Nature. When my husband and I had for the first time the idea to move here, we agreed that this wonderful place should not only be for us, but that we wanted to share it with other people. Everybody who comes here will find peace and tranquility and will be able to admire Nature in all its beauty.
So far all our guests have been very satisfied.
My husband and I like to take care of our guests. We want them to be able to relax and to recover from their stressful lives in the city.
We also like to cook good food for them, and since we eat as much as possible organic food, that's what we serve our guests, too.
