The Jewel was a great place to say in NOLA with a lot of charm and character. The host was very accommodating and let us check in early and the 1st floor apartment had everything we needed for our stay. It is between a 10-15 min walk from anyplace in the French Quarter. There is some street noise and a nearby church which chimes its bells during the day but that largely just adds to the ambiance.

Nice flat not far from the Vieux Carré. The place was clean when we arrived but we met three cockroaches during our four nights stay The wifi didn't work after a day and a half and we had to contact the housekeeper ourselves to get it fixed

Place was fantastic, right outside the French quarter but close enough to walk anywhere. Bed was comfy and the apartment was very nicely furnished

Overall it was a great stay in New Orleans. The location is very nice in terms of walking distance to local attractions. The apartment is so cute! Beautifully decorated. Truedell is a great property manager and made some suggestions of where to eat and what to do. Very responsive. She allowed us an early check in and a later check out which was a life savor! Only negatives was the apartment is not sound proof. If the neighbors cough you can hear it. We had horns honking at 7 am and loud music until 2 am. It would have been nice if there was a box fan or some sort of other noise maker to drown out the street noise.

Marks place is gorgeous. Cannot be faulted. Spotless, elegant, superbly equipped. The location is even better than the French Quarter. (which is still only 5 minutes walk away). We spent 3 nights. Breakfast every day at Li'l Dizzy's (5 mins walk; brilliant advice from Truedell - thank you Truedell, you know we owe you, big time). Sylvester Francis's tiny museum (30 seconds walk away) is an amazing gem. Al Jackson's one room Jazz museum with added Satchmo (2 minutes walk) is equally great thanks to the precious knowledge of Al himself. One last mention: thank you to Aaron Blanks for being big-hearted Aaron. Vive NOLA. I wish I could give 6 stars to the whole lot.

We really wish we had read the reviews more thoroughly before booking this place. We had to check out halfway through our trip because we didn't feel comfortable/safe at this apartment. Truedell, the manager of the location, is so friendly and accommodating. The interior of the apartment is beautiful, well decorated, and accurately represented in the listing photographs. The main issue with this location is that there are people loitering around the unit at all times of day and night. There were parties going on all throughout the night in the street and right outside of the unit. The unit walls are very thin and the unit is located very close to the street, so we didn't feel like we had much privacy or security. We were unable to sleep due to the activities going on outside of the unit. Though Truedell was very responsive throughout our stay and departure, we have yet to hear from the host about the issues we had during stay.

The place is super cute and we just loved the charm of the architecture in an older home. The kitchen could benefit from some additional amenities such as knives for cutting, trash bags and a dish drainer for cleaning up after cooking. In the bathroom additional storage, hooks and shelves would be a huge benefit for keeping your things off the floor. After dark the neighborhood isn't somewhere my husband would let me be alone, so don't make plans to come in late unless you have someone with you. Truedell is a doll, she allowed us to store our suitcases at her place until check in and then delivered them to the rental for us. We enjoyed our week long stay and would love to come back in the future.
