Welcome to Mario's fantastic country home! This secluded property nestled into the hills among acres of olive groves is a beautiful oasis, especially during the heat of the Italian summer. You are certainly getting a home rather than a holiday house, with beautiful decor and all the facilities you could wish for. The kitchen is especially well stocked, more so than any holiday rentals we've been to before.
The swimming pool - a brilliant size and great depth for our 7 and 10 year olds - where they spent most of their days! It is a constant depth around all the edges and half the pool allowing them to stand up, with the other half being deeper to allow for the kids' entrance acrobatics! Just remember to remove your belongings from the poolside at night as the local fox cubs have a taste for swimming goggles and flip flops! :) The pool and rest of the garden is beautifully lit at night, allowing a very comfortable moonlight swim.
The Garden - wow, what a garden! Beautifully manicured, green lawns, ample seating, football/volleyball pitch, play equipment, fruit trees (apple, pear, plum), vegetable garden, horse paddock & farm animals! Our kids loved checking on the animals every day, and being able to help yourself to the produce of the garden is an added bonus.
Mario - he feels like a firm friend, although I've never met him! He has been in very regular contact ever since booking our stay, with extra information and photos. On arrival we were met by Mario's friend Lucia (also fluent English speaker) and shown around the house. During the few hiccups we had (stop of municipal water & electricity supply, escaped horse!) Mario was instantly available to resolve through instruction or call out someone to help.
The location - beautifully secluded, you'll certainly need a car to get there and around. A large local well-stocked supermarket is a 3 minute drive way. We visited Naples, Vesuvius, Herculaneum, Pompeii (great guide recommended by Mario), Amalfi Coast & Saepinum, all by car (the local drivers are something to experience too) - just remember to spend plenty of time relaxing at Mario's!
