We advise very young children to keep off the wooden part of the deck. We have locks high on the sliding doors to stop infants from accessing it, plus we have a barrier we can put across by request . The concreted area with the table is safe for toddlers. The front gate can be latched to keep toddlers safe.

The house is next to a reserve with endangered kiwi birds. There are webcams and nesting boxes in the bush. We have a strict no pets policy to care for these birds which are easily killed by cats and dogs. Please do not ask us if your pet can stay.

Sorry, but we have no place to park boats on or in front of our property.

We are on a peaceful no exit road so hardly any car traffic, often only walkers going to the famous flagstaff view only minutes from us. The area is quiet yet minutes walk from the hustle and bustle of Russell village. We have native bush on one side of us with tracks weaving their way up to the flagstaff or down to the little beach at the end of Russell Bay. There are plenty of cafes and eateries in the village all within 8 mins walk away. Perhaps longer on the way back!
Russell is a gateway to all the activities offered in the Bay. These include swimming, diving trips (a good wreck dive in the outer Bay), scenic boat and land tours, fishing trips, sailing charters, hiking, bush walks, golf, parasailing, historic Pompallier Mission House, Waitangi Treaty Grounds with a great museum and excellent Maori Culture displays.

My husband Colin and I are recently retired and enjoy being grandparents. Travelling via sailing our boat overseas has taken up many years of our lives and it is good to revisit those times through the people we meet. Our motto is to work hard but to enjoy life too. Never be afraid of trying something different. Someone once said "Just do it"......what a great idea.
