L'Oiseau Chantant is a lovely, large villa in the picturesque village of Fuilla is situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, an hour from beaches on the Mediterranean, and an hour from resorts in the high Pyrenees. Ideal to get away from it all, you can relax in the garden or pool side, where all you can hear is the birds singing, the stream trickling and the bells of the clock tower chiming in the centre of the village.
The house has been renovated and fitted with good quality furniture, beds and a refurbished kitchen. All the soft furnishings and curtains are new. You can expect beautiful crisp new bed linen and fluffy towels.
The house is suitable for winter letting as it is heated throughout with the added bonus of a cosy log fire.
Sleeps 10 in 5 bedrooms, or 12 if using the sofa bed in the lounge.
Bedroom 1 (Orange) has twin beds with patio doors out to the garden.
Bedroom 2 (Mauve) has a king sized bed with patio doors out to the garden.
Bedroom 3 (Pink) has a king sized bed with new en suite shower room, views over the garden.
Bedroom 4, master bedroom has a king sized bed, comfortable sofa and coffee table, en suite shower, toilet and hand basin, and patio doors out to the garden.
Bedroom 5 (Green) has twin beds with patio doors out on to the pool area.
The spacious family bathroom has a full sized bath, with separate shower cubicle, toilet and hand basin.

The lounge is 'L' shaped and has three separate areas. Firstly the TV area, large comfy sofa and two bucket chairs. You can watch French channels or some free channels English channels or just settle down to a favourite film on the DVD player. This is a cosy area and during the cooler winter evenings you can relax in front of the log fire.
Secondly the Office area, with Wifi broadband internet connection. Equipped with a desk and office chair, an ideal work station if you need to keep in touch with the office during your stay.
Finally an area with a large sofa and 2 large armchairs and coffee table, ideal for sitting and chatting over aperitifs or just curling up with your favourite book.
The newly refurbished open plan kitchen and dining room is well equipped with everything you would expect in your kitchen at home. Plenty of quality cooking utensils, pans and equipment. There is a ceramic hob, oven, microwave and fridge-freezer. The house is well stocked with crockery and cutlery for up to 20 people.
The dining area has a large dining table that comfortably seats ten and is a lovely area to share a convivial meal.
Adjoining the kitchen is the utility room with washing machine, dishwasher and a second fridge and freezer handy in summer to keep drinks icy cool.
Baby equipment includes a cot and a highchair. If you require any other baby equipment please ask.
All bedrooms are fitted with ample hanging and drawer space, each one has a hair dryer.
Further details outdoors, The garden is completely fenced and the pool is alarmed and secure for children. Inside the main gate there is car parking space for 5 cars. There is also on street parking in a quiet road in front of the house. The house sits in its own well maintained grounds.
There is a large BBQ terrace leading off from the kitchen and dining room with a table comfortably seating 12 people, ideal for al fresco meals. The table has a large parasol for the hot daytime sun.
There is a second smaller terrace with a table and six chairs next to the pool. At the front of the house is a terrace that can be covered by an electric awning.
The swimming pool (4m x 8m) is situated in the large garden and is surrounded by terraces equipped with 6 sun loungers and a parasol, bistrot table and chairs and a pool shower. The pool is alarmed for your safety. There is an outdoor shower next to the pool.
The views from the house and garden are of beautiful mountains and wooded hills. Due to clever hedges and planting the grounds are not overlooked. There are many shaded areas around the garden where you can take a book and have a quiet hour reading or snoozing. You will find a hammock strung between the trees too.
We have bats and balls and a badminton net if you are feeling like a bit of exercise!
Shopping from Fuilla is easy, with a wide range of amenities available in nearby Villefranche de Conflent and Prades, where you will find a variety of Supermarkets, cafes, bars and restaurants. In Prades there is a large market every Tuesday and a smaller produce market on Saturday mornings.
Visit the tourist information office in Prades and discover the many activities and festivals held in the area. It's open all year round.
The walks in the area are many, varied and well marked, stroll around the village or take a hike following some of the most beautiful trails in France. Visit the Tourist information for free leaflets on local walks.

As this villa is a home, I would be grateful if you would do some tidying before you leave. Although a cleaner will pass through following your stay, her main task being to prepare for the next visitors, ideally you would leave the villa in the same condition as when you first arrived.

We, Jonathan and Julie, have been living in France since 2001 and we are still very much in love with this stunningly beautiful region of France. We are married with 4 children and 4 grand children. Spare time is mostly taken up with renovating our derelict house. The apartment advertised in Ria-Sirach as "lovely apartment - large terrace" is the first part of the renovation to be finished and we are very proud of how successful it is.
Our favourite pass-times are eating, drinking, gardening, looking after our 4 chickens and "relaxing". If you get to know us you will realise that "relaxing" is meant to be a joke, it is something that we aspire to in the future.
