About this listing

My place is close to parkways and nature--just four blocks to the gorgeous Victory Memorial Parkway. You’ll love my place because of how accessible highways are to get to all parts of the Twin Cities. I'm a ~10 minute drive to downtown Minneapolis. I'm 25 minutes by car to the MSP airport and Paisley Park. I live in a very residential neighborhood, there aren't coffee shops or grocery options within walking distance. I love hosting, and meeting guests from all walks of life!

Description

The space

I love the energy of this room! It's at the front of the house, on the main floor, and right off the living room. It has a super comfortable king sized bed with memory foam topper. The unconventional piece is that the doors are folding doors, with curtains for privacy and light. You're on the main floor of my home, and will be sharing the guest bathroom with other guests if the other room on the main floor is booked.

Guest access

You'll have access to your private room, and the shared spaces throughout the main floor (front porch, living room, dining room, full guest bath, and kitchen). If the weather is nice you're welcome to hang out in the back yard--I have a fire pit! Spaces guests to this listing cannot access are the other guest bedroom, and the upstairs.

Interaction with guests

I'm always available by text/phone/message if you need anything during your stay. I work long hours, but am around most evenings and weekends. I'm open to making plans with guests, but will follow your lead on how much space you would like.

The neighbourhood

My neighborhood is very residential--we're in the Cleveland neighborhood of Minneapolis. I love my neighborhood for it's diversity, history, and proximity to nature and all that the Twin Cities have to offer. You're in a big metropolitan area, but guests often comment how quiet it is. You may hear siren traffic, as we're very close to North Memorial hospital, and not far from a few major thoroughfares throughout the city. In the warmer months, the kids that live on my block play outside, and every so often neighbors down the block will have a birthday party or football event, but they are respectful and quiet down at a reasonable time.

Getting around

Minneapolis has decent public transportation, but I recommend choosing to stay at my home if you plan to have a car, or use Uber/Lyft for your transportation. I'm about 10 minutes from downtown Minneapolis, 15 from US Bank stadium, 25 from the MSP airport, and 25 from Paisley Park.

Other things to note

There may be other guests in my home while you stay, and if so, you will be sharing the first floor guest bath with them (2 guests max). I love hosting with Airbnb, and have met so many wonderful people. I look forward to sharing my home with you!

I stayed 4 days in this house, and that room was not design to be a room, the size of this room is not much bigger then the size of the queen bed size. I had no place to keep my belongings. Also the room doesn't have door it' just have closet slide door which ya will not have privacy while ya sleeping. Not only that but also in that neighborhood where this house located is not a safe place. Over all this house was I guess my 6th house I stayed from bnb. Therefor I will not recommend guests to stay in this house.

Response from Elise:
Awad, I’m sorry you felt that this was not a good fit for you—I am very surprised by this review after your request to extend your stay, which I was sorry I was not able to accommodate. The pictures of the room are accurate, and there is ample floor space around the bed, as well as a closet for guest use. I would like to note that you had many belongings, including large tubs and suitcases, much more than most guests I host. As for the door, I am clear in the listing that it is not a normal door, and show that in the pictures as well. There is a lock and latch to secure the door, and dark curtains completely cover the opening for privacy. I’m sorry you felt my neighborhood was unsafe. To future guests, I’ll reiterate that my home is in a large urban area, and that I love where I live.

Elise was a excellent host, the room was neat and she provided all the same amenities one would expect from a commercial hotel room. We had peace and privacy, very nice. Would definitely recommend.

Elise is a phenomenal and accessible host who had awesome accommodations for my four-night stay. I had some of the best sleep of my life in that giant, comfortable bed! The room itself is quite private, and there is plentiful public space in her house to lounge and make food. Her living area (minus the kitchen and laundry) is on the second floor, so the main floor is mostly used only by the guests. There is ample parking on the street right in front of her house, and cooking in the kitchen was pleasant. If I vacation in the Twin Cities again, this will definitely be my first choice in lodging.

Elise is a great host and we enjoyed her place a lot! Her house is easy to get to from downtown with Bus 19, and the Blue Line to/from the airport. Her place was one of the best I stayed so far, so I definitely recommend it!

I'm passionate about social justice, education, delicious food, and great workouts. I love nature, and walks in the woods. I've lived in Minneapolis since 2003, and enjoy all that the Twin Cities have to offer!
