La Haut or La Haute literally means “the height” in Patois, a French dialect that is commonly spoken by St. Lucians. La Haut sits on a hill overlooking Soufriere, one of the oldest towns in St Lucia.
Part of a 52-acre former coconut and cocoa estate, the main guesthouse, the Cocoa House was originally a cocoa house used for fermenting and drying cocoa beans hand-picked on the estate. In 1995, the building was converted and refurbished into a 6-room guesthouse now housing 3 Superior Deluxe and 3 Superior Garden rooms.
Although the rich aroma of cocoa beans no longer wafts through the air, at La Haut you can enjoy the perfume-scented, tropical fauna or the salty breeze that blows off the Caribbean Sea.
From Cocoa house to guest house - La Haut's scenic serenity and tranquility abounds. This pleasant guest house is situated on a lush mountain 770 feet above sea level on the West coast of St Lucia overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the Pitons and the Soufriere Rainforest. Part of a 52 acre coconut and cocoa estate. The surrounding gardens boast a 8 foot freshwater swimming pool and infinity pool, an array of tropical plants and a small bird sanctuary. Walk the plantation at your leisure, bird watch- there are a multitude on property- witness daily farm life at La Haut -complete with goats, cows, aviary and donkeys. An affordable way to experience St Lucia!
Located in the heart of all the main nature activities on the island- ideal spot for hiking the Pitons, bathing in the therapeutic waters of the sulphur springs, snorkelling and scuba diving, whale and dolphin watching, bird watching, hike Tete Paul trail or Rainforest Descartes trail, visit many waterfalls, or simply sit at one of our 2 pools, relax and just enjoy the view.
