The space

The Azalea is one private apartment of a cottage duplex on 300 acres of beautiful mountain property with trails and cascading creeks, The setting is creekside with large shade trees. Enjoy the quiet or bring the kids and enjoy roasting marshmallows at the firepit and chasing lightning bugs in season, or watching butterflies dance across the meadow. Hike the trails, wade in the creek, contact the on-site horse stable for a trail ride, pony ride, or lesson, or head in to town for antiquing. See below for other local tourist attractions.

Expect rustic cottage charm. We don't attempt to be a luxury resort. We're simple clean down to earth country yet not primitive. Inside this suite has a king size bed, its own kitchen, and bathroom. We provide bed linens, towels, dishes, utensils, and cookware. The kitchen is equipped with range/oven, refrigerator, sink, microwave, toaster, and coffee maker.

The property is private yet not isolated. We're only about 3 miles from Historic Downtown Spruce Pine where you'll find antique stores, crafts, restaurants, groceries, and even a regional hospital. Nearby attractions also include rafting, gem mining, golf, and horseback riding.

We're centrally located between Mt. Mitchell (tallest mtn east of the Mississippi), Roan Mountain (world's largest natural rhododendron garden), and Grandfather Mountain (mile high swinging bridge and wildlife preserve). The Blue Ridge Parkway is about 7 miles away. Go either direction on the parkway and visit either Crabtree Falls or Linville Falls.

Our suites are non-smoking only. Sorry no pets allowed in this particular unit.

When we arrived at Patsy's I do not think we realized how stressed out we really were. The minute we opened the door it was like instant relief. The bubbling creek in the back was like music, that you never want to stop playing.Everything you need for your stay is provided, just bring your clothes and enjoy the peace and quiet. If you grill out you might get a visitor from the neighborhood dog, he's really sweet.

Patsy and the cottage are both lovely. The scenery is incredible. There is a little creek that flows through the backyard and the option of a fire pit along it. We would stay there again for sure.

We needed a quiet getaway in the mountains and this was it. There is a babbling stream nearby and the grass and landscaping is well manicured. Morever, at night you get a beautiful dark sky that is perfect for star gazing. The cottage itself is adequate and the amenities are fine. The provided wifi helps since there was absolutely no cell coverage in the area. The cottage room has heated and cooled air though it did get a bit hot in the room during the day. Patsy provided detailed instructions to get to the cottages as they were a ways off the road. Her instructions helped out tremendously as we arrived at night and couldn't make phone calls due to lack of coverage. Overall, it was a good experience; one that we wouldn't mind repeating.

Everything was perfect! Beautiful location, perfect size for the two of us. We cooked out one night on the provided gas grill and cooked a couple of meals in the kitchen. Well stocked with utensils and pots and pans. Loved listening to the creek at night. We will definitely be back!!

I like gardening and staying active. I am the owner of Peak Mountain Cottages. I enjoy meeting people and making them feel a part of our family.
