Thank you for the great stay. The house is a stylished furnished oasis of tranquility in the hurly-burly of Havanna. The host is very helpful and courteous. He reserved a table at a wonderful restaurant (his recommendation) for us. Although our flight was at 10 pm, we could leave our luggage at the casa the entire day. The breakfast was really good. We enjoyed the beautiful swimming-pool very much!! For our next visit to Cuba we will definitely stay there again. Katharina&Florian

Everything about our experience at Llave del Golfo was wonderful. The beautifully restored colonial era house is situated in an interesting neighborhood just ten minutes by cab from downtown, a much needed respite from the noise and bustle of central Havana. Juan made the booking easy, and answered all our questions with patience, providing tips on getting to know Cuba and other resources to make our trip successful. When we arrived, we were greeted by the friendly staff and were captivated by the home's beauty. The rooms are quiet and clean. Breakfast was delicious and the garden and small swimming pool was a fantastic way to relax after a day of sightseeing. Jorge arrived from Spain on our second day and went out of his way to make our stay a memorable one. You will have to take cabs into downtown Havana which will cost an average of 10 CUC but well worth it as being able to stay in a neighborhood where Cubans live rather than tourist hotels added to our experience. Jorge or his staff will arrange a cab to pick you up to get you where ever you need to go -- he even arranged a wonderful driver to take us all the way to Trinidad. Just make sure you always have the map with the B&B's address to show to the cab driver when you return home as they often needed to refer to it. But within a few days we had memorized the way and were directing them back to Llave del Golfo like pros! Make time to walk around the neighborhood around the B&B and up to a small hill nearby which provides a 180 view of all of Havana and is lined with beautiful mansions. A walk down the neighborhood's main thoroughfare, 10th of October St., is also highly recommended. Thank you to the Jorge, Juan and your staff for making our first visit to Havana such a fantastic experience. We can't wait to return.

Luckily this B&B is not yet a insider tip on Blogs like Condé Nast Traveller or in a guidebook like Lonely Planet – It would have more than deserved it! My boyfriend and I had the chance to stay six nights in a room in the patio. We really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere in the house, the incredible interior design, Jorges amazing dinners, the tropical plants and the beautiful and authentic neighborhood. My boyfriend and I came to Jorges house after already traveling a week through Cuba and we were – to be honest – a bit disappointed about Cuba in general, because luck wasn’t on our side (we booked a car and found out at the airport that the car rental agency didn’t exist, the Cubans were unfriendly, everything was really expensive, it rained a lot), but when we came to Jorges house we enjoyed our stay so much. Jorge helps you with everything (from transportation organization, dinner tips or even medical advices) he is more than hospitable! We were also amazed by the neighborhood, because it is much calmer and less hyped so you can see incredible villas (some shabby, some already renovated) and authentic, friendly neighborhood life, where nobody tries to offer you cigars or taxies, money change or wifi cards. The house is a little wonder in Cuba and I would definitely recommend everyone to stay in la Llave del Golfo – it’s only a question of time that Lonely Planet will find out how cool this B&B is, so better hurry before it gets crowded.

This was my first air bnb international experience and it was amazing one. George and Juan were amazing host and organized our transportation to and from the hotel and old and new Havana. They also serve lunch and dinner and everything they offered was fresh and authentic especially the lobster and potatoes. The neighborhood is a mix of old and new Havana with the residents who are more then helpful to give directions and local food recommendations as well. I highly recommend staying here and will be doing so when I return to Cuba next year.

At the time we visited, Juan was in Spain and George was our host. George was absolutely wonderful and was a great resource for restaurant recommendations. The home was beautiful, the rooms were nice, and the garden was lovely. My husband and I loved it and can't wait to come back.

Great place, with a great host Jorge. Nice room in an amazing building and the breakfast was excellent. Jorge will help you arrange taxis etc and gave us lots of good advice on where to visit etc. Location is nice and secluded but quite far out (although only $10 in a taxi) from the city centre. Could be a little tricky directing taxi drivers on the way home if you don't speak Spanish but if you do then would be fine. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks very much
