Jen's place was a tad misleading with the photos that were posted. When we arrived we were surprised with the street appearing to be very run down. The lock was tricky, which Jen thankfully warned us about, but we struggled with each time using it. Inside the place was sparse but that was okay with us since the main thing we needed out of her place was simply a place to sleep. We did appreciate the Amazon FireTV with Netflix! There was some noise from the street and the neighbors but it wasn't too much of a bother. We also appreciated the towels and extra toilet paper. Jen checked in on us during our stay, and we didn't have any issues with the place. This place is ideal for a quick trip to Philadelphia and if you're not planning on spending too much time in the place.

Jen booked us last minute, which was great given our circumstance. Unfortunately, the necessities were not stocked and the place wasn't very clean. Jen communicated promptly that she could bring TP and soap the next morning, which she did.

Here's the good stuff : - Wi-Fi - ac in bedroom - smart TV - paper towels and toilet paper - great price - two sleeping areas (bed & futon) - Jen was very easy to communicate with and responded very quickly - always found parking for both our cars - laundry in basement with detergent Now the not so good stuff: -A lot of dust and dirt on the floors and crevices and underneath the bed (don't recommend this place if you have dust allergy) -cobwebs in various corners (a few little spiders) - small little bugs here and there even in bed - Kind of run down area - This might just be a personal preference but it was too hot in the living room or kitchen to ever hang out anywhere but the bedroom. More fans would be nice in those rooms. The small fist size one in living room barely works.

Response from Jen:
Thanks for the feedback. It's always helpful as we are always trying to improve. The critical feedback is new to me. I wish I would have known about this during his month long stay. I checked in on Dane, but he did not mention any of this criticism. I can not make things better when I don't know something is wrong. I was with the cleaners the last time they were at the apartment (2 days before Dane's stay). I watched them dust, sweep, vacuum and mop the apartment. As for bugs, I would have called an exterminator immediately. I wish I could have helped this situation while it was happening.

Jen was excellent in her communication. The place is close to Clark park and west-philly businesses, great for walking, with close access to public transit.

Jen was accommodating to my dog and I on very short notice! This Airbnb was perfect for what I needed and had a lot of space.

Jen's place was fine. Nothing fancy. Certainly for those on a budget. My main quip concerns the kitchen amenities. There was really nothing to cook with there. No saucepan, pots, etc. Jen really needs to remedy this. I agree with a lot of what the reviewer below me, Deborah, said. But I have to contest her point about gentrification, which I see as a micro-aggressive racist euphemism for "there are more black folks here than white folks." The neighborhood and people were lovely. It was a twenty-minute walk to UPenn. There were a washer and dryer there during my stay in the basement. The furniture is very basic and the place could use a deep thorough cleaning. Jen has something of a reputation in Philly as the Philly's AirBnB Queen. This isn't necessarily a good thing. By being scattered across over a dozen AirBnB locations, she's unable to provide excellent service in one location. I looked at some of her other places, and they look considerably nicer than this which suggests that she does seem capable to clean this place up more and include more amenities, but isn't willing to. I think a really impressive situation would involve her place on Markoe St. to look just as nice inside as her other locations whilst maintaining the low fee for staying there. But, as I see it, her places are situated hierarchically, and with this location, as with her others it seems, you get what you pay for.

Jen's place was in a great location for us. We were close to the trolley, the park, coffee shops and our children. It was very clean and comfortable with all the basic needs. We would definitely stay there again. I must say we were thankful for the AC during the 95 degree days.

I am a lover of travel. I enjoy reading (real books and audio books), yoga, and almost any outdoor activity.

AirBnb is fantastic! It brings me great happiness to host others while they visit my favorite city, Philadelphia. I own a property management company called, Slate & Hearth. Check us out!!

I was just named Philly's AirBnb Queen. Please check out Philadelphia Magazine's full article by searching "Jen Jordan queen of Airbnb Philly".
