Staying at Kaz Ladouceur was an absolutely amazing experience from start to the end. That includes communication with Anna, pick-up at the jetty, welcoming by Daureen and ad-hoc support thru the stay. Daureen welcomed us in Anna's absence. She kindly greeted us with pineapple juice and small bananas. Daureen took the time to provide us small insights about La Digue incl. a great tip about visiting Belle Vue for a stunning sunset dinner which we did - do not miss out on that! The chalet itself was something unique indeed. The view from the top floor could make us get up with the sun everyday, just to get the most out of view, having long breakfasts. Kitchen facilities had all we needed too, fine gas stow and the fridge was very decent too. Generally very fine standards. Bedroom downstairs was very comfortable as well. It was finely covered with a mosquito net, yet we had no problems with insects downstairs during our stay. The breeze from the aircondition was a comforting fact when going to sleep. Bathroom next door is beautiful too and very lovely made in natural stone material that gives an authentic look. There even was a washing machine outside we made use of once too. Further we borrowed bikes to tour the island which was extremely convenient means of transportation. Down the hill where the road begins, you can go left and get the nicest tour through the local village. We really enjoyed that too. One should be aware that you are located hillside in the nature with all that implies. Meaning, you can meet lizards, ants, spiders, flies, bees, etc. However, you will find most of this in any hotel on the island, that's just nature and a sign the air and environment is not polluted :) During the day you will be acquainted with the local bird choir and at night see the big flying foxes fly by. And no need to bring your alarm, the rooster (and his brother, cousin and uncle) have you covered to get up in the morning :) If you're not a heavy sleeper just bring earplugs and you'll be fine. That said, I had no trouble sleeping. I would highly recommed anyone too stay at Kaz Ladouceur. This is an experience one should not miss out on when visiting La Digue.

The apartment is very nice! The view is incredible!! Very nice terrace. Anna is very attentive and Daureen and Fred, the hostess in place are adorable! Very careful! La Digue is beautiful and very agreeable to stay. Mostly of the transportation is by bike. It's a very calm area. For people looking for nature and a calm environment La Digue is much better than Mahe and Praslin. It is also smaller.

I loved staying at Anna's place! I think as long as you are prepared, (and reading these reviews really helps!), you will love it too! My husband and I stayed here for 10 days in July and it was lovely. As you know, there is a bit of a hill to climb to get here but those views are worth it! There is nothing like waking up early in the morning (more on this later) and having a coffee with that view and a light breeze through the trees. And personally, climbing that hill everyday (usually 2-3 times a day), plus riding bikes everywhere, helped me not to put on the usual weight I do on vacation! ;) This place is well situated. We were only a few minutes from town by bike and could reach every beach on the island within 30 minutes. Anna wasn't there while we were, but Fred and Doreen took excellent care of us. We had everything we needed and then some. Fred even took an extra effort to get us to our sunset dinner when we missed the bus! You will lack for nothing while staying here! Now, the tips: 1. The best way to get the most out of your stay on La Digue is to keep up with the sun. Get an early start to your day and go to bed early. We were up with the roosters and cooking dinner at sunset. Given the open nature of the bungalow (i.e. there is no way to close the upstairs off from nature), we found that cooking dinner around 17:30 was perfect. We had enough light to cook by and then we would light candles after sunset and have a romantic candlelight dinner every night! We never used the upstairs lights (as recommended by Fred and Doreen) and thus, never had a problem with the bugs others have mentioned here. 2. Bring earplugs. We are light sleepers and had to put in ear plugs every night to block out the roosters. Annoying yes, but it was worth it. You are surrounded by birds, chickens (and their adorable chicks!), roosters, dogs, cats, a few cows, and even a neighborhood goat up there so just be prepared. I hope that you enjoy your time here as much as we did. Go say hi to Paradise the tortoise at Anse Severe for us!

The house felt like a treehouse perched above a lush jungle overlooking the beautiful ocean. It was beautiful and worth the climb! Our hosts were so helpful picking us up at the ferry and taking us to a grocery store to get necessities. The only small issue we experienced were a lot of small gnat bugs that came out at night so we weren't able to keep the lights on past sunset. I think it's seasonal & the house was such a great value we would still highly recommend!

Firstly, the positives... the chalet is at a brilliant location with great views and spills romance.. extremely friendly and helpful people... 5 min walk from the jetty... and a small walk up hill to reach the house... we were welcomed with a huge glass of fresh orange juice, which was much needed after the ferry ride and the walk uphill. The house has all the basic amenities. Moving on to the negatives...insects, bugs and lizards creep inside the home during the evening because of the open lay out. We were mostly arrested downstairs, in the bed room which was air conditioned. It was just impossible for us to have dinner at the dining table upstairs with the fear of insects and lizards falling on us anytime. Hence, cooking was a challenge and had to be done before evening for the same reason. We suggest air conditioning upstairs too which will keep these bugs away.

Nicely welcomed - Anna has been answering every single emails rapidly - the KAZ is nice but the environment is NOT all - we have not been able to spend a proper night because of dogs barking all night long and roosters on the morning - it s a shame as the KAZ and the view are really nice
