Our King Guest Room is roomy with a king size bed and a bathroom directly across the hall. Morning coffee is just steps away in the kitchen. Your room is on the opposite side of the house from ours so you will have plenty of privacy.

The space

The farm seems to be what draws our guests the most. Chickens, guineas, a horse, calves, dogs and cats... occasionally we branch off into other stock as well, but with only 3.5 acres... it is definitely a "hobby farm".

Guest access

Guests have access to the bathroom across the hall, the kitchen, dining room and living room. Outside, the front porch, yard and farmyard are here for your enjoyment as well.

Interaction with guests

We love to interact with our guests, to the degree they are comfortable with.

Other things to note

In and around Johnson City we are blessed with many things to do. Wineries and vineyards abound because we are in the midst of the "Tuscany Valley of Texas", as well as the Lyndon B Johnson visitor center, boyhood home, Texas White House and park, Hill Country Science Mill, Lights Spectacular-Hill Country Style (Nov 25th-Jan 5th), antique shops, art galleries, and much more!

If you want a real family experience, go see these people! When we left, I felt as if we were leaving family. Wonderful bed, and great breakfasts (helped gather the eggs we ate!). God willing, we will return many times.

Everybody should stay for a couple of days with this amazing family. It has been the best part of our trip so far. Amy is so cute and Michael is ver funny! The breakfast all together was amazing, it was just like being in our home. Very good chance to know the real Texas and the real people who live in. Amy came with us to the rodeo explaining all the things and different stuffs of it. Than you ver much for all, we won´t forget this experience never and we will take you in our hearts. It´s because of you that we have had so great experience. I hope we will see you again!!

We had a fantastic getaway at Amy and Mikes! Ruby and Carly were of course amazing little additions to our stay. Amy was very accommodating. It was nice to get to know the host for the first time at an Airbnb and relax on the porch swing and watch the storms roll in. Breakfast with fresh farm eggs were amazing as well! I couldn't say enough positive things about our stay. We will definitely be back!

Staying at Amy's and Michael's place was a real treat. The bed was very comfortable and having a private bathroom was convenient. All the amenities one could expect were provided. Having a warm breakfast in the morning was excellent. There was plenty of room to walk around or just chill on their property. I would definitely stay here again if I were in the area.

Michael and I are long time residents of Johnson City, TX, which is a small community in the Texas Hill Country, about an hour west of Austin or north of San Antonio, on the way to either the Highland Lakes or Fredericksburg. We have a small farm on the west edge of town with chickens, guineas, and a few goats, and a gorgeous back yard full of huge live oak trees. We love any excuse to sit in the swing and visit for a while. We enjoy meeting new people and have hosted many friends and our large extended family for many years in our comfortable farmhouse. In addition to the Writer's Cabin, we have two beautiful bedrooms we love to share with travelers to our area, for a night or two, or an extended stay. Michael is from Louisiana and really loves to cook and keep our yard beautiful. I run an insurance business from home (downstairs) and enjoy sewing, cross-stitching, and walking (3 miles a day). We are low key and love kids and animals and nature in just about any form. We would love to get to know YOU, too!
