My place is close to walking routes, forest, wildlife, nature, ocean. You’ll love my place because of the quiet atmosphere, the peace and quiet, the proximity to nature, the cosy vintage atmosphere. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and families (with kids). 4 - 5 people can sleep there. The nearest town is Stykkishólmur, about ten minutes away.

This is a cosy cottage situated in a peaceful birch forest, close to walking routes and nature watching towards the ocean.

The space

The cosy cabin is full of vintage furniture and relics from the former inhabitants, the nuns who used this cabin as their escape from the outside world. Our cottage is perfect for nature lovers and anyone looking for a place to relax in peace and quiet. The bookshelves are full to bursting with interesting books, and the turntable is just waiting for a vinyl record to be put on.

Guest access

The whole cottage is yours to use. Most of the area around is open to exploring.

Interaction with guests

I am always willing to help if anything comes up, even if it's just to help you book a sightseeing tour or help you decipher menus from the local restaurants.

Everyone is right. Sigrun was great in communicating. We checked in later than expected but she was so flexible and nice to meet us in the main road to lead us to her cabin. Lots of space for a couple, will comfortably fit a small family or group as she had 2 bedrooms. Close to town and convenient for exploring Snaefellsness Peninsula

Don’t just think about Sigrun’s cottage - absolutely reserve it when you can! It has an interesting history, the location is very quiet - surrounded by forest and farm land - yet it is only 10 short minutes from town, where you can shop and dine. Sigrun is an excellent host, whom you will enjoy meeting, and has given nice thought to the vintage of the cottage - even to the record player for the albums on hand (definitely play some music, you’ll love going back in time...). The location is excellent for accessing the National Park.

We had an excellent time staying at Sigrun's place! She provided a crib for our baby, which was incredibly helpful, and there was a record player with fantastic music for us to enjoy. The area was very quiet, and it was dark enough for us to see the Aurora! It was cozy and relaxing, and we would definitely stay there again!

Very cozy and well-equipped cottage where in a secluded area with a lot of natural sights in day-trip distance. Sigrun and her husband are very nice people, they guided us to the cottage and explained everything. You can listen to their vinyl collection and even enjoy some icelandic music.

Great little cabin in a quiet spot with lovely views only a few mins drive from Stykkisholmur. Sigrun and her husband were really helpful and came to meet us in town to take us to the cabin. Peaceful spot to spend a few days and explore the area - would definitely rexommend.
