Located on a farm, near Mackerel Cove and the village of Jamestown, RI. Walking distance to town and beach, and ferry that takes you to Newport. Quiet and secluded, must like the sounds of clucking chickens and crowing roosters outside the house!

The space

This space is unique because it is one of the oldest houses in Jamestown and has been restored and modernized. The location is also unique because it is so private and seems as if you are in the middle of nowhere on a beautiful farm setting, but you are a 5-10 minutes walk to downtown Jamestown. Because of the age of the house, the layout of the bedrooms is a bit funky, you must walk through bedrooms to get to other ones and one room, the one with 4 twin beds, must be walked through by everyone to get to the bathroom upstairs.

Guest access

The house and the land around it, they are welcome to walk all around the farm, and spend time with the farm animals with the owners or someone from the farm present. There is a basement and small shed for storage of bikes, etc..

Interaction with guests

We live on a house on the farm as well, and are around working with the animals, etc... There is little interaction between us and the guest. Some guests have come up to visit us and buy eggs, and have come out to spend time with the animals, and some guests we have never seen after check in.

The house was nice and clean, the farm animals were great and the location perfect for our needs. We saw a router but were unable to get the wifi working as no networks were showing as available. The wifi or lack of wifi didn't entirely matter as we were in town for an event and spent a short amount of time at the house. Overall it was a nice house at a decent value for what we received.

We stayed at the farmhouse when visiting Jamestown for a wedding. We enjoyed seeing the animals, and the house is very charming. The downstairs is great for gathering, entertaining, playing games together. Upon request, Vivi even delivered farm fresh eggs! We were supposed to have 4 couples, but luckily only had 3 which fit the house much better. (None of the rooms are private, 2 you have to walk through to get downstairs, and the other people need to walk through to get to the bathroom. The last is a very small room with one twin bed.) None the less, it suited us well and we had a great trip!

Response from Vivi:
Each potential guest to the farmhouse has always been given a description of the bedroom configuration. The house was built in the 1700's, so the layout is not the modern layout that we are used to. So far, it seems that the charm of the setting and the house usually make up for the funky bedroom configuration upstairs.

We loved this house! My family and I stayed for a long weekend during the Newport 10 miler race. The kids loved the farm - the chickens, goats, sheep, donkeys, and that swing! We loved the house - an 18th century charmer completely restored and upgraded. Beds were comfortable, linens and towels were bright white. The owner was just a text away for any questions. Nothing negative to say.
