My place is close to the Zocalo in the historic downtown area of Mexico City. The area has cobblestone streets, art and culture, restaurants, bars, parks, and great views. The place is cozy, yet has 15ft ceilings, combining the old colonial - refit with modern features. The queen size bed is comfy, and there's a couch that is more than big enough for another person. The building is very secure and has 24 hr surveillance.

The space

This building was a jewelry factory that has been around for close to a century. Recently, it was completely remodeled by a renowned architect and divided into artistic lofts and apartments, keeping many of the old retro features, but combining it with modern amenities. If you admire cool, creative spaces, you will fall in love with this apartment, as I did. This was my apartment, but now I live in another one in the same building.

The unit is small, one bedroom, one bathroom with a living area and kitchen - perfect for a couple.

Interaction with guests

Since I live in the same building (different apartment), I'm always available if anything were to come up or if you need advice about places to visit! I speak perfect English (my native language) and fluent Spanish. :)

Other things to note

The building has 24 hour surveillance, and access by key card. I'm a foreigner living in the city and have never had any problem with security here.

The place has great atmosphere, modern in an Antique setting. No TV which is a blessing in disguise. It's nice to get away from it for awhile. Great location in Centro Historico. We like it so much we extended our stay for 5 more days. The rest of our vacation. Joel gave us great tips on restaurants. We have yet to meet him but look forward to it. Finally, there is everything you need, cookware, plates, dinnerware, coffeemaker, etc. A great value!

We loved the apartment! And the speedy internet was especially helpful for getting some work done. Wish I could live here - love the brick and wood and overall style. Great, safe location; communicative host. If you're lucky, you'll see Kira, the awesome dog that lives in another apartment (but far enough away that if you don't like dogs it's fine).

The building is beautifully restored and very comfortable. Nice shared rooftop area. Kitchen has all basic necessities and very clean. If you like a neighborhood with all basic amenities and off the chart good food (k-guamo seafood, elkar rotisserie chicken, Ideal bakery, Azul historico, and their relatively uncrowded roof top bar with muy excellente Mexican style gin and tonics) then stay here. Real people live and work here, not just tourists.

Apartment is in a great location in the Historic Center. Close to Los Cocuyes (tacos), El Moro (churros), and Pastelería Ideal (great bakery) which made getting amazing food really easy.

Perfect spot to stay in Mexico City! Joel was very helpful in recommending local spots to see and eat/drink. The studio is quiet and inviting. Close walking distance to shops and a quick Uber anywhere else! I would definitely stay again!

The loft is located at good walking distance from all the main attractions. You also have plenty of restaurants around the area. The terrace that's in the building gives you an amazing view of the downtown area.
