Shanta Ghar “peace home” is a rustic natural eco resort in the remote grassland area of beautiful Madi all surrounded by Chitwan National Park. It is made of the famous Sal wood and is handmade by local carpenters in the old Nepali traditional way.
How do I get there?
From Kathmandu or Pokhara
Kathmandu - Shanta Ghar - 170 Km approx
** BY BUS : Tourist Bus (Greenline/Rainbow etc)
Option: Catch local bus – which runs every 30 min : Cost approx RS 170 each person approx
NOTE: Please make sure you tell the bus driver you are getting off the bus at Bharatpur Bus Park to ensure he can easily get your bag off of the bus. This is because you will be exiting the bus before most other people.
Within Bharatpur Bus Park just walk right side Chaubiskoti Junction - there is Madi Bus Park. This is where you will take the bus to Madi. If you are unsure which is the correct stand you can ask someone to point you in the right direction.
When you are on the bus inform the driver you wish to go to Shanta Ghar which is in Ayodhayapuri 7-Tamta Bazar. The drivers are well known of this place, our village is small.
BY PRIVATE: For hassle free if you would like to travel to book a private Jeep then we will arrange it as per your pre request.
Additionally, if you require we can come and meet you at Madi Bus Park which is situated in Bharatpur Bus Park. We can then all take the bus back together to our home.
If you arrive by Air into Bharatpur Airport the same options are available for you.
You can take a rickshaw from the Airport to Bharatpur Bus Park, this will cost you around 50-100NPR depending on your bartering skills. Here you will catch the bus to Madi from Madi Bus Park, as per the instructions above. Or the option of a private car is available, again at a reasonable cost.
For hassle free if you would like to visit by our private vehicle then we will be happy to arrange you a Jeep which will be more comfortable to reach resort.
PLEASE BE AWARE- On the bus from Bharatpur to Shanta Ghar there are two army check points for the National Park. The army will come on board to search the bus and possibly your bags. This is in place to prevent the poaching of protected animals within the national park.
Interaction with guests
My family and I are always around to cater for our customers needs and comforts.
Hello! I am very proud to tell you about Shanta Ghar a beautiful resort I've build and started together with my long time friends from Norway. We met 25 years ago when I was a trekking guide in the Himalayas, Anapurna. I have met a lot of nice people from all over the world during these years. Now I'm really happy to wish you welcome to Shanta Ghar, a different and natural place in the heart of Chitwan National Park. It is a very peaceful non tourist area. I can provide different activities like jungle safari and camps in the jungle for 2 -3 days. If you prefer to just relax, it is a perfect place for this too. I will do everything to make your stay a pleasant one! Welcome!
