Lovely, quiet little 850 sq.ft. home away from home! We are located on a heavily treed lot in a nice area with great neighbors. Located in west Anchorage, we are next to Sand Lake, which is groomed for hiking/cross country skiing in the winter, and a favorite ice fishing spot. We are two miles away from Anchorage's largest in-city park, Kincaid Park, which boasts over 30 miles of hiking and skiing trails. It is also an access point for the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail.
This space was renovated two years ago and is packed with modern comforts. The bathroom has heated flooring and heated towel rack, the living room has a gas fireplace, and both rooms have ceiling fans. One room has a king size bed with down comforter, the other is a futon that coverts to a double bed (with a shockingly comfy mattress). The lot is situated such that sun pours in during the day. We are on a heavily treed lot and what I call "moose highway" so it is not unusual to see moose walking through the property. Outside is a deck with a fire pit, and you have your own gas BBQ to use. You will also have a heated one car garage available to use (sorry! I doesn't fit a full-size truck but my Tacoma fits in there well), as well as one outdoor parking spot with a plug in area for winter time..
This unit is connected to our main residence (as a duplex) but it has it's own entrance.
Interaction with guests
We are more than happy to answer any questions or give suggestions on places to eat, things to do, etc. but by no means feel you need to chat with us! We do live in the unit next door so if we see you, we'll say hello :)
Other things to note
We are very close to a lake that is utilized by float planes (ski planes in the winter, of course) so there will occasionally be noise from them, but not often.
- It's a quiet neighborhood so no loud parties, please
- No extra guests without approval
I live in Alaska and I love the great outdoors and love to travel. I love traveling to remote places, but Africa holds a special place in my heart. I've started dabbling in brewing my own beer and I'm a big foodie and Anchorage is turning into a great foodie town! I have felt blessed to have found amazing places on Airbnb, and I've introduced my family to it so they prefer staying at Airbnb now as well. Now my husband and I have decided to try our hand at becoming hosts so hopefully we can pass along the great Airbnb experience!
