Our house is located on secluded wooded lot, set back from the road just north of Newburgh & across the river from Beacon. Situated in Dogwood Hills, the house was built in 1969 and retains many of the original features nestled amongst a handful of private residences on the former Delano family estate. Our decor is sympathetic to the period of the house with an eclectic twist

The space

The house was designed and built in 1969; mid century modern architecture with Japanese influences. We have kept the house in that style but with some modern twists. The surrounding garden is rugged and we like that the house is nestled in it's own private forest. The living spaces are open-plan to one another with a formal (sunken) living room with 3 sofas, turntable and bluetooth speakers and vaulted ceiling; the dining room is two steps up from the living room and has a 6 seater, mid century dining table; the kitchen has a breakfast nook with seating for 4 and all modern appliances; the den is located to the rear and has a working wood burning fireplace and vaulted ceiling.

Guest access

Guest will have full use of the entire main level of the house and garden - this includes 2 sitting rooms, dining room, kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom (with 2 single beds) and 2.5 bathrooms. Guests also have parking for up to 3 cars in the driveway (driveway is shared with the basement unit which has it's own entrance and is not included in the rental).

Interaction with guests

We can be available to meet guest for check in and check out as well as on call 24/7 for any questions guests may have during their stay - we have a separate unit in the basement of the main house which we occasionally occupy.

This is our home and we prefer guests who treat our home with the same respect - this is a perfect getaway from the city, vacation spot or long stay for people working in the area for a while. We do not allow events to the held at the house and ask that guests respect that.

We ask that guest remove outdoor shoes when in the house and we are happy to accommodate pets if agreed in advance of booking and we require an additional cleaning fee for the booking.

It is against the law to use any sort of firework, firecracker, sparklers on our property. It is also prohibited to use a fire-pit or anything other than the grille provided which must be used with care a must not be left unattended when in use.

Smoking is strictly prohibited both within the house and on the property as it is a heavily wooded lot and this creates a fire hazard.

If guests suspect a fire has been started they must call 911 and alert the fire department immediately. If guests hear firecrackers near the property they must dial 911 and alert the police

Ray's home is a gem. It is beautifully decorated, quiet and the perfect place to wind down. We had a group of 7 and fit very comfortably. Sean met us when we checked in, showed us around and was available for any questions throughout our stay. I highly recommend this home. It is perfect for a weekend away from NYC and very close to downtown Beacon!

This was a great place to stay. It perfectly slept six (6) adults and we were able to being our puppy along. They picked up the carpets and left out cleaning supplies knowing that we had a training puppy. The house was spotless and the directions were clear and easy to follow. The owners were amazing with communication and were just a text or call away. I would definitely recommend this house.

Sean and Ray's house was pretty spectacular, decorated very well and perfectly clean. Sean walked us through the house when we got there and was always a text / call away if and when something came up. Over and above, he was super considerate in terms of our time and needs. Would definitely recommend their place!

This house is terrible. We found 6 dirty dishes in the kitchen, and mold covering the master bathroom shower. There was dirt under beds and general grime from things like old collections of CDs and too much vintage furniture. The lighting was clearly installed by the owners - looks amateur and you have to turn on about 30 switches to find a match. The beds in the twin bed room are un-sleepable (likely Ikea matresses) and the space in general does not look like the photos - it’s dark, depressing and ad-hoc. There is a lot of art from fabulous artists - one of my draws to the property in the first place - however you will find these are all shody prints. The sofa in the living room is extremely uncomfortable as are many chairs on the property. Ray and Sean are rude and inhospitable. There are post-it note covering the house with petty rules. They give off the vibe that they would rather not rent this property but clearly need the income to sustain the space. It’s not made for fun or relaxation. I’d rent this house for $150 a night, not the $300 price they are listing and asking.
