Our house is located on secluded wooded lot, set back from the road just north of Newburgh & across the river from Beacon. Situated in Dogwood Hills, the house was built in 1969 and retains many of the original features nestled amongst a handful of private residences on the former Delano family estate. The property is shared with our basement apartment and we ask that guests are respectful of that in term of noise. Due to the design & layout the house is not suitable for young children or babies

The space

The house was designed and built in 1969; mid century modern architecture with Japanese influences. We have kept the house in that style but with some modern twists. The surrounding garden is rugged and we like that the house is nestled in it's own private forest. The living spaces are open-plan to one another with a formal (sunken) living room with 3 sofas, turntable and bluetooth speakers and vaulted ceiling; the dining room is two steps up from the living room and has a 6 seater, mid century dining table; the kitchen has a breakfast nook with seating for 4 and all modern appliances; the den is located to the rear and has a working wood burning fireplace and vaulted ceiling.

Guest access

Guest will have full use of the entire main level of the house and garden - this includes 2 sitting rooms, dining room, kitchen, 2 double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom (with 2 single beds) and 2.5 bathrooms. Guests also have parking for up to 2 cars in the driveway (driveway is shared with the basement unit which has it's own entrance and is not included in the rental).

Interaction with guests

We can be available to meet guest for check in and check out as well as on call 24/7 for any questions guests may have during their stay - we have a separate unit in the basement of the main house which we normally occupy.

Ray's home was beautiful. My friends and I had a wonderful stay and really enjoyed their close proximity to Beacon and Storm King areas. Ray and Sean were very active in communication before and during our stay. All in all a great experience.

This is a beautiful home in the Newburgh area. It made a great home base for our travels. The hosts were very communicative for check-in and any other questions. Beds are wonderful, as well as the fun, mid-century styling. Having an extra half bath to the other 2 is always helpful. The house is nestled beyond the trees so it feels very private. Overall, great stay.

Great place! This is my second time staying at Ray's and I couldn't have enjoyed my stay more. Super clean, spacious, beautiful fireplace + outdoor area. Super excellent value for what you're getting. Ray was communicative and super helpful when I accidentally blew a fuse (my fault) in the bathroom. Despite that he was out of the country, he had someone come to fix immediately. Highly recommended.

We had an absolutely wonderful time here. The moment you arrive and step out of the car, you are enveloped by the serene beauty of the trees and the incredibly fresh air. Then you walk in and you can tell right away, this was truly a special place, with so much personality and soul. We loved not only how quiet the home was, but also the fact that there were so many little nooks and seating areas, to gather together and to spend time alone with a book or staring out into the tall trees. And like other reviewers said, the best part was the genuine care and great communication Ray and Sean offered, checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. Our only regret was how short the ‘long weekend' was! Even so, we went back to the city rejuvenated and we hope to stay here again soon!
