It is a quiet house between Downtown and Hollywood. It's a peaceful area. The room is comfortable, it has AC, which was great during heatwave. Abelardo is a kind and helpful person. My two weeks stay at his place was a wonderful time.

Abelard is nice and helpful but the bed is not a real bed AT ALL : it was two old foam mattress, I'm very disappointed.

Home is very spacious and yet cozy. Its woody environment, and bungalow decor takes you to times of nostalgia. The room itself lacks a closet and that can be a challenge for those looking to stay longer than a couple of days. Great for those backpackers or out-of-a -suitcase visitors. The WiFi connection sputters at best and for some this can be a real challenge. I think it just needs to be denoted in the description, so guests can decide if bad internet connection is a deal-breaker. This drawback can be attributed to the area or the provider. Is not Abelardo's fault, of course. Speaking of Abelardo he is the epitome of a perfect host. Helpful, yet respectful. Assertive and very knowledgeable of the area and it's nooks and crannies. If you're in LA touring popular tourist destinations like Echo Park, Hollywood, Sunset or Hill Street, you will not find a better deal. Specially if you travel solo. This room only accommodates one body sleeping on a foam mattress topping a lounge chair/ ottoman combo. Kitchen and shared restroom are always clean, and within reach. For me, I guess, clean is a big deal. Parking is also a bit complicated specially if you tend to sleep late. Host and permanent tenant in the back of the house leave early for work and by gosh, don't you dare get in their way, specially in the way of the guy living in the back. Also, Street parking in this bustling area is a big challenge. However, The big home has big spaces to accommodate up to 4 car with no major problem inside a gated parking area. However, as mentioned, the permanent guest in the back of the house (what used to be the detached garage) owns what seems to be a monster truck and he believes his truck needs tremendous space around it, making hard for others to maneuver, park, ingress and digress.

Abelardo was a nice host and was very receptive to all of my questions and other communications. The home itself is in a very convenient, central location and has gated parking. The room lacks a dresser, closet, and a true bed (the bed is memory foam on top of a lounge and ottoman). Overall I think this place would be fine to stay for a couple days, but lacks details required for a comfortable long-term stay. The price is hard to beat. The pictures that Abelardo has posted are accurate.

High School teacher willing to rent a guest room to responsible, respectful and clean guests. I am taking care of my elderly and disable mother so my guests need to be trustworthy and respectful. Looking for colleges students and exchange students attending universities or colleges in the area. I live near downtown Los Angeles.
