My apartment is a 15 min walk from everything you want to be close to in Antwerp: central station, the MAS, the Cathedral, the shopping street Meir, bars and restaurants,...

As I have one guest room and love having people around - I welcome you in my home.

The space

The location is unique as its downtown.

I live on the first floor of an apartment building. There are two bedrooms with both a double bed of which one will be yours. The bathroom, living room, dining area and kitchen is to share with me.

There is no tv. Wifi yes. :) Oh, and there is a piano.

Although I have been away for some years, I know the city very well, so any advise I can give to you is my pleasure.

Interaction with guests

I work during the day, so will only be around in the evening. When I am there, I can help you out with advise and/or socialise with a cup of tea or a glass of wine.

Other things to note

I don't have a tv and don't drink coffee - meaning I don't have any good coffee. But good coffee is just around the corner!

Great host, very nice appartment. Even though it was a short stay, I enjoyed it. It is also very close to a lot of famous landmarks in Antwerp

The house itself is located in a safe area. Nevertheless the walls are quite thin so that you can hear other people living in the building walking or playing instruments which made it difficult falling asleep. This also applies within the flat so privacy is not that great. Moreover the toilette and shower can’t be locked. In our room the WiFi didn’t work at all. I was told to just use the WiFi in the kitchen but this made planning the trip an uncomfortable task. I was trying to talk to Ewa in Dutch all the time and didn’t gave up but since she always started to talk German or English in return I got kind of annoyed. I didn’t feel an Airbnb experience where I arrive at home and talk to locals and share experiences. Ewa provided a bed, towels and everything you need. Still we felt a little like we weren’t welcome. Objectively she seemed like she was okay with having guests who payed a lot of money for one night. But I felt permanently watched and like I could do something wrong. To conclude my stay: I felt safe in the apartment, didn’t feel genuinely welcome, missed the personal experience but still privacy Airbnb should provide and think the room was overpriced.

Response from Ewa:
Its a shame Daniel felt this way. I have indeed switched to German every time his friend was around so he would understand (he doesnt speak Dutch). The wifi indeed doesn't reach both bedrooms and also there are no locks on any of the doors inside my apartment. The walls are thin, especially when my neighbour plays the trumpet but it was also a Saturday and both guests went to bed around 9pm as they left early past 7am the next day. A bit unfortunate. And to be honest, I think 30€ a person is not expensive for a full apartment to your disposal down town Antwerp. I thought our conversations were nice and I have enjoyed both guests as pleasurable.

What a fabulous host Ewa was. From accommodating my early check-in request to making me feel right at home. Central location but quiet, close proximity to city bikes, a beautiful apartment! And while brief, it was really lovely getting to know Ewa herself!

Ewa's place was great. I had a little difficulty navigating to her place by car because of No Car Sunday, but finally made it. She let me check in early and gave me a map for downtown Antwerp and made some suggestions on where to go to eat and sight see. Her place is very central and just a short walk from all the action. The bed is nice and the shower was nice and hot! She let me make tea the next morning and recommended a wonderful local bakery for breakfast. Would stay again when I return to Antwerp!
