The Treehouse Backpacker Hotel may not be your home just yet, but we’re sure you’ll consider it one, by the end of your stay.
Home cooked meals, free breakfast, our friendly English speaking staff and our beautiful little village, Grünau Im Almtal, are sure to convince you to stay longer than than you’ve planned. We are a family-run, independent hostel/B&B, off the beaten track and away from the big noisy cities.

Gerhard opened the TreeHouse in 1997 after many years of running the YoHo in Salzburg. Born and raised in Gruenau, he thought it was really important that backpackers experience more of Austria, than just the big cities. He believes small towns like Gruenau represent the “real” Austria. Trained as a pastry chef and professional cook, it’s very important to him that his guests are well fed and looked after. He loves morning hugs and has a hard time saying no. He will drive you where you need to be, fix your bike, cook your meals, and explain in great detail, where you need to go. Gerhard and his staff of family and friends, guarantee a fantastic Austrian experience. *Most is Austrian apple-pear cider
