This one-bedroom, first floor apartment overlooks the busy streetscape, the ever-popular farmers markets, & working Port.
The space
Loft on London is nestled on the first floor of this original 1870’s commercial building which originally housed John Fyffe – draper and family.
The apartment is accessed from London Street, down the walkway beside the Lyttleton Coffee Company to the door of 31A (see photo) and then once inside, up two levels of stairs.
Please note, this apartment, though charming and popular may not be suitable for all because of the stairs and also the potential for loud ambient noise from nearby venues and port activity, especially on weekend nights
Please take this into account when booking, in the event you have health, fitness or movement issues.
The space is airy and light filled and the kitchen/dining room and bathroom enjoy magnificent views over the working Port and Whakaraupo - Lyttelton Harbour.
The kitchen is fully equipped for 2 guests. Please use the rangehood when cooking.
The bedroom and lounge overlook the hustle and bustle of London Street and the neighboring businesses, eateries and bars.
A heat pump - air conditioner is located in the hallway and electric blankets are available during the cooler months.
The apartment features a full bathroom with a large shower w/Eco brand body wash and shampoo provided, and a separate toilet.
Please use the bathroom vent (by handbasin) when showering and turn off when finished.
A hair dryer is stored in the bathroom vanity for your use.
Guests have use of the laundry with washer & dryer with laundry detergent, and an iron and ironing board is provided.
A short stroll will take you to a range of local amenities such as the local supermarket, Information Centre. You can also easily walk to cultural hotspots like art galleries and boutique shops that give the town its distinctive character and to the port to take the ferry to Diamond Harbour or to Quail Island.

The entire apartment (with the exception of the storage cupboard and ceiling loft space) is for guests to enjoy.
CARPARKING
There is no dedicated carpark provided with this apartment.
During the day parking in the London Street Commercial zone is time limited however overnight you can generally park without ticketing – but not guaranteed, right outside.
However, make sure you move your cars early on Saturday morning – Market Day, otherwise it may get towed.
The surrounding streets, Canterbury Street (beside library), Oxford Street and the surrounding residential areas are not restricted or metered.
Do not park on yellow lines, loading zones or disabled carparks as the fines have now been substantially increased.
Other things to note
NO PARTIES OR EVENTS
Being right in the heart of a vibrant, working port town with a lively nightlife, the atmosphere on the street, bars, music venues is wonderful and can be very spirited.
The Loft on London offers a cozy retreat, however guests may experience loud ambient noise from nearby venues and port activity, especially on weekend nights - all part of the authentic local experience however party outside only.
Please make sure that when you shower, please keep the bathroom door closed and turn on the vent (beside vanity unit). There is a commercial smoke detector in the hallway which may go off with excessive steam.
NO SMOKING
Smoking and Vaping is not permitted in the apartment.
If the smoke and heat detectors are activated by smoking or vaping, you will be charged for the call out fees to deactivate the alarms and attendance of fire vehicles.
Furthermore, any costs associated with additional cleaning to remove smoke, fumes, cleaning stove or oven or other damage will be borne by the guest.
