We had a great trip to D.C./VA and this home was conveniently located. As described in previous reviews.

The apartment is adorable. Perfect for what we needed. Getting to everywhere we needed was easy because of the location.

This was my first time booking an AirBnb so I wasn't too sure what to expect, but Kathryn and Scott were great hosts and I highly recommend them! House - Just what we were looking for-- a comfortable place to sleep and get ready for our days. Pros: -Hosts left welcome sheet which was very helpful and provided info about the home and surrounding area. -Snacks/coffee was provided which was a nice added bonus when we were running late out the door. -Essentials such as towels, shampoo, soap, etc were provided. -Fans and heaters provided. -Wifi available but did not test. -Easy access with private entrance way. -Inside and outside of home was clean (under bed and surrounding floor could have been swept more as there were a few dust bunnies, but overall the place was not dirty and I only noticed because I sat on the floor to use the mirrored closet door to do my makeup). Cons: -Like others mentioned previously, the walls are very thin so you could hear the hosts walking around upstairs and sometimes talking. They seemed to stay up quite late and wake up early, so if you're a light sleeper this may be a problem, but for us it wasn't so loud that it kept us up-- just a bit awkward at times. -Bathroom has a sensor light that goes off after about 10 seconds so at times I found myself showering in the dark waving around trying to turn the light back on (thankfully they also have a light over the toilet that stays on, otherwise it would be pitch black). -The shower itself is very small so might be hard for some to maneuver in. -Water pools outside the entrance way, so have to be careful not to step in puddle (they have a drain so it doesn't flood, but the placement doesn't seem to quickly drain all water). Location: -To put it simply... perfect. We used uber during our stay (they didn't seem to have a hard time finding the house) and it was about a 5 minute drive to the Arlington National Cemetery and maybe 10 or 15 from DC and Alexandria. -Neighborhood was very quiet. -Street parking was always available if needed. Hosts: Both Kathryn and Scott kept great communication throughout our trip and were available when we needed them and let us know if they might not be available right away. Though we did not meet them in person, they were very friendly and accommodating. Overall, I really enjoyed this location and am glad that this was my first experience as it was so positive. I do not think our visit to Virginia would have been as relaxed had we stayed in a hotel.

It's very well located. Near from markets and not so far to DC. The house is cozy and has everything to make your stay comfortable. The only downside is that you can hear everything in the house and the bed could be better. Besides this, the place is nice and Kathryn was very helpful and receptive!

Overall, our stay was a mix of up and downs. Our host had completely forgotten abouday of arrival leading her husband to then frantically "clean" the area we would be staying in. Luckily, our host was able to change the sheets in the bedroom and the husband changed the towels but no dusting, brooming or garbage was taken out/done. The floor is also quite thin, so be prepared to hear footsteps. Not to mention, the dead bugs/cobwebs that were under the kitchen table that are also mentioned in the previous review of this location therefore meaning hosts hasn't broomed in who knows how long. For those who will be staying in the future, I broomed the dead bugs as well as the little carpet in front of entrance. Please also note they have shower flies which when researched let me know their drains were dirty. We also encountered a nice little cockroach in the bathroom one morning that we thought was dead. Upon trying to throw it out, it began moving. This leads me to believe that there are more either hiding in the basement apartment or it came from upstairs. One of the more peculiar problems, our hosts disappeared the Friday of our week of arrival. Now, we don't expect them to tell us where they're going, however, if something would have happened how would we have known how to take care of it considering it is not our house. Basically, we could have completely abused of this situation and stayed way longer than check out time considering they werent even home to double check. On the plus side, apartment was about a 15 minute drive to DC, 10 minute drive to the nearest supermarket and parking was always readily available. The mini fridge was bigger than we expected and were able to fit plenty of groceries in it. The kitchen was also equipped with plenty of utensils, plates a pot and pan, as well as salt, pepper, and EVOO. For the future guest, we left a bottle of wine for you as you'll need it to muster up all the courage to kill the amount of bugs we didnt.

Overall this unit was very disappointing. The biggest issues that I had were that the unit was not very clean when we entered, the bathroom is a single-sized shower and lacks outlets for hairdryers/straightener/curlers, and that the main burner on the stove does not work. There were many dead bugs underneath the dining table, cobwebs and dead bugs in the corners of the unit. It looked as if it had not been cleaned in some time. The entryway to the basement also had a large puddle of stagnant water that encouraged mosquitoes to linger. We were bitten as we entered and exited the unit. We also did not expect that the floor would be so thin. We could hear our host walking around at all times, and were awoken early in the morning as they got ready to leave. One last critique is the lighting around the bed - the lamp on the left side does not work, and the right lamp's plug is so frayed that it will not stay in the outlet socket. Wheeling the bed out to plug it back in reveals dust bunnies that suggest the area has not been cleaned thoroughly. On a more positive note, Kathryn is extremely responsive, and provides a quick reply to questions. There was a hairdryer provided; the minifridge works well; the host provided snacks and several K cups for our use; there are plenty of plates and cutlery to use as well as EVOO, salt & pepper. The location is not too far from Metro.
