Modern accommodation inside traditional stone farm building, in a rural setting, surrounded by fields and forest. A working family farm, we provide a warm welcome to all kinds of folks.

The space

Guests have the entire apartment, two large bedrooms, a kitchen, a dining area, a TV room, two bathrooms and a patio. The apartment overlooks fields and forest. Guests are welcome to walk in the forest, which has paths all around. The owners live on the far side of the courtyard, only a few meters away if you need advice or assistance.

If guests need a cot for a baby we can provide one, free of charge. We can add an additional single bed for an additional charge.

Guest access

The apartment is beside fields and forest, guests are welcome to walk in the forest, where grass paths are maintained

Interaction with guests

We give our guests space, even though we are only a few meters away in our own home. We are always happy to answer questions or give advice.

Other things to note

You will need a car. Although we are only 2km from two towns, it is not possible to walk to the town and buses don't stop on the road. However, you can leave your car in the town and take buses to the Dublin City centre every 15 minutes.

We provide a parking space for our guests, however cars/trailers/horseboxes are parked at the owner's risk.

Ciaran’s Hen House has rustic charm, ample space, and a kitchen where we cooked many delicious meals. The place is clean, quiet, and looks better than the pictures posted. We had a fantastic stay there and enjoyed the walks in the farm and around the great expanse of woods in the back. We parked our rental car on property and the location provides easy access to Dublin, the airport and ferry port, and many other destinations of interest. Ciaran himself is a wealth of knowledge and very pleasant to talk to. He responded quickly to all of our inquiries and helped get us what we needed. I will not hesitate to recommend the Hen House to anyone.

Our stay at Ciaran's was really nice. The accomodation was clean and spacious. We immediately felt at home. The beds are really comfy and neat! That there are two bathrooms is also a major plus! When you go outside on the balcony, or downstairs the private terrace you can smell the "green" irish country air, which I liked, especially after waking up in the morning! One highlight was, when the sheeps came back to the bordering meadow. One night we slept beside a flock of sheep. :) Another cool thing was that they had a Nintendo Wii with the Super Mario game, which my daughter loved and kept her entertained when needed. Ciaran was very helpful and friendly, he made certain that we were fine and he provided a lot of information when I asked for advice. Thank you! :) I would definitely recommend this place, when you have a car, otherwise you'll have to take cabs, which will be no problem, as there are always some running around, to call.

Response from Ciaran:
Thanks Alexis, I will change our description to say that it is not possible to walk to the town and that without a car guests will be depending on taxis. Again, great to have you as guests! Ciaran

Ciaran and Terese were wonderful hosts. You couldn't ask for a warmer, more friendly welcome, and they were always happy to help with anything that you might need. The accommodation had everything we needed, including a selection of DVDs that kept our son entertained. The decor was bright and fresh, with all necessary appliances, and the bedrooms were spacious and tastefully furnished. Although we didn't get to see it, there's a small wood nearby that sounds great for a walk. The location was very centrally located, making it easy to visit Tayto Park, Drogheda water park and Dublin Zoo. There were lots of great restaurants nearby with great food and a friendly welcoming atmosphere. We wouldn't hesitate to book again and would definitely recommend Ciaran and Terese to anyone else looking for a fun and memorable holiday.
