Hi Nina, I'm sorry your stay wasn't as you had hoped. Others regularly stay at my home and have a very different experience, so I am surprised that you identified so many ways in which my house was not as listed. There are a few things I want to respond to with respect to your post that are not accurate. I'm taken back that you perceived any sort of racial or ethnic bias. I certainly don't have any discomfort with those of other races. I am always welcoming of guests of different ethnicities and races, as is evident by others that I have hosted and would happily have return to my home. Ethnicity and race do not factor into how I think about guests. In your review you mentioned that the earliest time you could arrive was 9:40; however, you had agreed to be there at 9:12 and even texted me thirty minutes prior to tell me I could expect you then. At 9:14 though, you texted me that you would be another half hour or more because you had decided to stop and shop at Walmart before checking in. This left me waiting well after the agreed upon check-in time that you had confirmed just shortly before and that you could have kept, which was already an accommodation to my listed check-in by 8:00pm. I happily and regularly make accommodation adjustments for my guests as needed but request that they live up to their end of the agreement. I ask that guests be mindful of my time because I open my home to them. You contacted me a only few days before your stay and several weeks after booking my home to request if it would be acceptable for your therapy dog to stay as well. You did not indicate that it was a service animal as you have in your review. It should be noted that those terms are different and entail two different legal distinctions and requirements; therapy animals do not require any specific training. When I learned about the lack of a requirement for training of a therapy dog, and given my concern over allergens, I withdrew my offer.
You were not granted a partial refund for the air mattress because there are no problems with it. The reason I delayed offering you a partial refund was that I wanted to check that it had lived up to what I had promised in the AirB&B posting. In addition to my testing it without finding a problem, the guests after you on the evening of the day you left used it and had no problems with it. I didn't respond to your text because I didn't see it at 1:57 am when you sent it. I was asleep. In addition to the request for the partial refund for the air mattress, you also requested a partial refund because you do not have a lot of money. I declined to offer you a partial refund for that reason as well.
