This Classic Spanish Style House sits on a street lined with palm trees and parrots. It boasts all the features that tourists desire: teracotta roof tiles, hardwood floors and tons of windows. Situated in Midcity, the Spanish House gets you to all points of the city in minutes with the least traffic. Midcity is awesome because it is a pivot point. You can move in any direction and find yourself in the thick of things.

The space

The Classic Spanish Style House is a piece of vintage Los Angeles, built in the 1920's. It is not a converted garage nor a mother-in-law nor an apartment. It is a stand-alone house that feels like a true domicile. The house has features you can't get with modern construction: moldings and a profusion of big bright windows that let in the light A porch with arch-ways that recall the Moorish influence of Southern Spain serves as an entryway that sets the tone. Small touches like teracotta accents evoke nostalgia for the colonial era when California was a Mexican stronghold. The interior decoration stands in counterpoint to the nostalgia for the venerable and ancient: it channels a midcentury modern aesthetic with clean lines and shiny chrome surfaces.

I stayed with khanh for like 2 weeks. He is a great host and gave me a lot of advices and recommendations about where to get around. His house is spacious clean and quiet. I'll surely stay with him again if I visit LA again. It's the best.

I love the location. I was there because I wanted to spend my time at USC and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. My wife needed to use the Clark Library for some quick scholarly research. In the evenings, we met colleagues at West Hollywood, which was easy to get to—just a straight drive down La Brea and voila—we were in the heart of my favorite part of the city. The house itself was tastefully decorated and I can’t say enough about the little touches of refinement. I mostly appreciated the way that there was attention to detail in the level of service: The host showed me he was interested in my well being at key moments without feeling overbearing…and let me do my thing. There was a nice selection of beverages in the refrigerator and it was refreshing to have a cold drink at the end of a long day. The house has keyless entry, which is a total bonus. So this was worth it and I’ll be back!

Convenience--that's the defining feature of my place. I'm impressed you were able to get around to so many different parts of the city. Downtown and West Hollywood! You covered a lot of ground!

Wow. The house was just perfect for me. It was really really clean. And it was just like the kind of house that I think people in Los Angeles stay in. I loved the furniture—very modern and trendy. And everything was new in the house. Most important, I had a short time in Los Angeles and almost all of it was business. So, I had to be efficient in exploring the city. This location made it possible. I loved being very close to Koreatown for yummy, delicious food. I could go from there to the Grove and even Sunset Boulevard for Mann’s Chinese Theater. But I could also get to Downtown to the Convention Center in 15 minutes for my International Conference. And I could also easily get to Santa Monica to meet up with college friends for drinks at the Fairmont Hotel. Khanh is an amazing host and the house smelled so good. But the best part is the central location: I booked my arrival during rush hour but didn’t have to take the freeway! The uber driver took me through side streets. He told me this is the best location for his business and he will be able to get back to LAX fast and make more money, faster. Always trust a taxi driver and always trust Khanh! You made my stay fun and efficient!

I do a lot of travel for my work and often book through Airbnb, both for pleasure and business. I have to say, this was one of the best experiences ever. On this occasion, I was trying to find lodging for my parents who are extremely picky. They’re basically clean freaks. They had such a great time at this gem of a Spanish Revival building. It was impeccably decorated with high-end Midcentury Modern furnishings. The art was so tasteful and the beds were so comfortable. Our host was so thoughtful, leaving little things that we would need—even Perrier and a fine selection of sodas. What made this place so nice was the location. You can get to downtown within 15 minutes by side streets or freeway. My folks could visit Culver City and always got there, even during rush hour, in 10 minutes, too. My father is just a sight-seeing dynamo, even at age 70. He took in the sights with his friends and they got to the beach in 20 minutes. The Grove and Koreatown and all you could want were easy-peasy. They loved it. They want to come back in this place. They loved that they could be in such a well designed space and relax on such fine furnishings. “Plus, traffic is crazy in LA and this place makes it easy on us.”

Response from Khanh:
Nancy, your parents were such sweet people. I was impressed by their extreme independence and energy. And they left everything spotless. That was so sweet. Thanks so much for the kind note that you left on the entry table. I was not only impressed by the lovely sentiment but also the beautiful Italian paper! I'm going to put this in my scrapbook!
