The space

The apartment is located in the attractive seaside village of Poo de Llanes 2 km from the main town of Llanes on the Asturian coast sandwiched between the sea and the foothills of the Picos de Europa. The bright, modern apartment built in traditional Asturian style is only a 10 minute walk from the nearest beach. It comprises a fully fitted kitchen and living area downstairs, complete with dishwasher, washing machine and sofa bed. Upstairs, under the attic beams is the ensuite double bedroom with sea views across the tiled rooves of the village. The apartment has its own parking space. Poo de Llanes is a typical Asturian village with its old stone houses in a maze of small lanes. It has 2 bar/restaurants in the centre and 2 more at the beach, located on a sandy, sheltered inlet. There is a local shop for food shopping and an arts and craft centre which offers workshops throughout the summer. The village is well served by public transport being on the coastal train line running from Santander to Oviedo. There are also buses to Llanes and further afield. A 15 minute walk along the coastal path (part of the camino de Santiago pilgrimage route) brings you to San Martin beach, one of the 36 beaches in the Llanes region, popular with surfers. Low tide reveals a vast expanse of sand with rocky outcrops to explore. A 15 minute drive away, or about an hour on foot, lies the picturesque village of Barru with its stunningly located small church perched on the edge of the water. Neighbouring Niembru has 2 of the most beautiful beaches in the north of Spain, Toranda perfect for families and Torimbia, a short walk across the headland, a more secluded semi-circular sandy bay. To the south, half and hours’ drive away are the Picos de Europa. A national park with fantastic mountain scenery, lakes, well signposted hiking routes, horse riding and canoeing amongst other acitivites. Llanes itself has a well-preserved walled centre with impressive cliff top walk and 2 beaches. The port and old town are lined with bars, restaurants – many specializing in local seafood - and traditional Asturian cider bars offering many options for eating and entertainment. There is a vibrant weekly market and many local fiestas to enjoy throughout the year.

Poo is situated in a delightful part of Spain, the area is an absolute gem! There are many majestic, sandy beaches - among the best we have ever visited and we had some great food out, notably at Xagarda. Poo itself is exquisite, quiet with some beautiful architecture in an idyll…

Response from Lauren:
Vincey and Lewis - we hope you enjoyed your stay and it is indeed an amazingly beautiful area. Poo is a very quiet village and we are sorry but unfortunately the neighbours of the next house were doing some minor repairs which coincided with your stay. Because our apartment is a converted old barn with the original beams in the bedroom and bathroom - yes the head room is limited in certain areas - to maintain the character of the building. We recommend a more feminist approach in the bathroom! Our guests appreciate being in the centre of the village with views of the sea and in walking distance of the beaches and restaurants, maybe you needed somewhere different - a house with a garden to prepare and rehearse for your musical projects. Sorry you couldn´t beat your record of eating for 3 euros in LLanes but the quality of the food - especially the seafood is very good here.
