Lucy's home is fabulous! It was spotless, comfortable and overall a pleasant stay. I loved the character and interior design, it felt cozy and safe. The beds are super comfortable! All the essentials are available in the kitchen and one can relax on the reclining sofa in the living room. Lucy herself is a great host! She is extremely fast at responding to messages and is always willing to help. She made my family and I feel welcomed and even left some treats out for us. I would absolutely recommend staying at Lucy's beautiful home.

We were with five people and the house was a great place to stay. We used the public transport to get to San fransisco which was easy. Lucy was a great host and baked really nice cookies for us!

There was clear communication with Lucy weeks prior to our stay to make sure that the stay will be pleasant. Our stay consisted of 4 adults and 1 child for 3 days and 2 nights with the house been spacious for all of us. Lucy was very attentive with our needs and was reflected on how the house was kept. The only reason it was not 5 star is due mostly to the location of the house been sketchy and spotting some people inebriated in front of the house. Overall place was great for the price but the area is not very family friendly.

Response from Lucy:
Thanks Giselle for your great review about the house itself. I also wish that the urban areas of the Bay Area can be free of social problems but we can only hope that things are on an upward trend. The surrounding streets may not appear appealing at first sight. I have since added an info sheet to the restaurants, markets, and location of (the world's BEST) taco truck in immediate vicinity of the house. So hopefully future guests can enjoy these hidden gems.

Our family had a wonderful time staying at Lucy's. From the homegrown lemons to the fresh baked chocolate chip cookies (there were squeals from the kids when they found them!), we felt so welcome. There were plenty of maps and pamphlets for area attractions and highlights. Lucy went above and beyond as a host, showing concern and giving advice for our trip to Yosemite following our stay in Oakland. She even rescued our daughter's abandoned stuffed lamb and met up with my brother to make sure it made the trip home with us. The house was clean and had all of the essentials that we needed. It was relieving to have a place to cook and eat at home without having to go out for every meal. You really can't get a better value, and staying a little outside of the rush in San Francisco is exactly what we were looking for. Although Lucy advised that we get a rental car, we used Uber and public transport quite a bit so that we didn't have to worry about the expensive parking in SF. The house is in a great spot in Oakland, though. The area was perfect for morning/day walks for the kids and me where we enjoyed the fun Asian market just around the corner with various specialties that peaked our interest, as well as kitchen staples, and plenty of food options nearby, and a dinner out one night as a whole family. We even found a great cafe by Lake Merritt for breakfast with music and storytelling for the kids. We would definitely consider staying with Lucy again if we are ever back in the area.

What you see is what you get... almost. This house may be ok when it is occupied by separate guests in each room but if you are a family and want to use it to have breakfast or dinner there then you'll find how poorly equiped the kitchen is. When we got there there weren't knives or spoons enough for four of us. No coffeemaker and we got only a toaster after I complained (I also complained about the coffeemaker but without any result). With regards to the rooms they are exactly as you will find in the photos so if you just want a bed to sleep and a chair to leave your clothes on that is exactly what you will find. Finally, if you're thinking of visiting SF from this location (as I thought was a good idea) bear in mind that you will need a significant time to cross the Bay Bridge that is constantly jammed (to cross to SF in the morning and to come back any time in the afternoon/evening). I'm still thinking if this place is worth the money we pay for it. Not sure it isn't but either not sure it is a good deal.

Thanks Javier for your suggestions. We bought a coffeemaker for the house now. When we started, we definitely had more sets of utensils, so some past guests must have taken them. We have since replaced the missing silverware. There are plastic ones available though. Anyway, it's good that you told me what you want instead of some of our previous guests just saying that the kitchen is basic.

The place was close to public transit. The apartment was clean except for the shower. There was a toilet issue that was very inconvenient. Lucy was a great host, she responded to all of our questions quickly.
