A cosy and tranquil holiday cottage for two, The Dairy Shed is a converted milking barn near Aberaeron from which you can explore the stunning coastline of Cardigan Bay in West Wales. On your doorstep there is plenty to see and do but equally inviting is firing up the wood burner or sitting out on your own private decking and enjoying the peaceful and uninterrupted views of the surrounding Welsh countryside.

The space

With its lime-washed walls and wooden floors, the Dairy Shed is a traditional old stone barn which has been transformed and extended into a light and airy open-plan space.

The living area includes a well equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs, a large sofa and television and a comfy armchair set in front of a working wood burning stove.

Push the integrated bookshelf to magically reveal an adjoining timber barn with wildflower roof that houses the bedroom (with king size bed) and shower-room. The inside walls are clad with birch-ply giving the space a Nordic feel.

From the living room, oak French doors open out onto a decking area with table and chairs and extends beyond to a large private garden with fruit trees.

Although tucked away in peace and tranquility, The Dairy Shed benefits from wireless internet, so you can be as connected to the outside world as you wish. (We can turn it off too if you prefer no distractions!) Please note we are in a rural location and the Internet can be patchy, is suitable for surfing the web but not streaming TV.

Guest access

The Dairy Shed is a private, self-contained building with its own parking area, entrance and a large garden with uninterrupted views out on to open countryside.

Interaction with guests

We (owners Dave & Sian) live in the farmhouse next door. No interaction with us is necessary, however, if there is anything you need during your stay, we're on hand to help.

Other things to note

Please be aware that the bed is custom made and is lower than a standard bed.

The Dairy Shed overlooks working organic fields. Sheep and cows are raised and hay and vegetables are grown and harvested depending on the season so you may see the occasional tractor pass by.

What a place!!! Stunning in every sense...location, building, decor and hosts!! It was our first experience with Airbnb and we weren't disappointed. We have already recommended to friends of ours and would love to visit again in the summer and be able to really enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside!

David and Sian's simply beautiful milking shed gave us a lovely and peaceful three day stay in mid-Wales. It is extremely clean and comfortable with beautiful view from the slightly-sunken bedroom at grass level out through a large window to a totally private lawn with a field beyond. On our last evening we ate at the Harbourmaster Hotel restaurant where the food was outstanding with the chef bringing together very interesting tastes and textures - make sure you visit! It's great value for the quality too!

We had a wonderful stay at The Dairy Shed for a friend's wedding in Ciliau Aeron. Sian and Dave are excellent hosts and were really easy to communicate with. They were on hand if we needed them but left us to enjoy the cottage. The place was absolutely immaculate when we arrived and there was plenty of information on hand about the cottage and the local area. The kitchen was well stocked to self cater and there was a lovely little welcome package with some milk in the fridge, some Welsh cakes and a personalised card. The cottage has been beautifully done out and is so comfortable. We loved the bookcase door and the large window in the bedroom with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. We got to meet Sian and Dave on the Sunday morning before we left and they gave us a great recommendation for lunch at The Harbourmaster in Aberaeron where we had a great Sunday roast. We would definitely recommend The Dairy Shed to anyone and hope to stay again soon.

During our holiday in Wales we stayed in the Dairy Shed for 4 nights. It was our first Airbenb experience and we can hardly imagine this one being topped. We really loved it. It felt like our own home for a few days. Dave and Sian put a lot of effort into it. It’s very tidy, clean and complete, nothing is missing. And there are lots of nice details. We liked the combination of the old with the new annex with all the plywood and it’s architectural details. The bedroom is very comfy and light and has a view over the garden, which is your own, with even a terrace on the South, South-West side. Dave and Sian are there for you if you need some advice or anything else. But if you like your privacy it’s guaranteed. In combination with the coast only a few miles away, it’s the perfect spot to spend our holiday and if we come back to Wales, we’ll surely visit the Dairy Shed again.

Completely loved it , with its simplistic design with a modern take it is amazing. The photos don't do it justice , room and bathroom hidden behind a secret bookcase door , a log fire to keep you warm and small garden, Dave was very helpful , 15 mins away from the sea , 5 mins from a bike trial , I needed somewhere to get away from the world and relax and I got exactly that .

We packed up our lives in London and moved to West Wales in late 2016 to fulfil a long held dream of a free range lifestyle in Ceredigion near the beautiful harbour town of Aberaeron.

Sian's father grew up in Aberaeron and we have spent many weeks here over the years and fell in love with the stunning scenery and beautiful quiet beaches - in fact we were married at the local National Trust estate, Llanerchaeron, which was designed by John Nash of Buckingham Palace and Regency London fame.

We own a collection of converted former farm buildings and The Dairy Shed is our first accommodation project working towards a self sustaining eco conscious one acre estate. We look forward to you staying with us and experiencing the area yourselves.
