A cosy and tranquil holiday cottage for two, The Dairy Shed is a converted milking barn near Aberaeron from which you can explore the stunning coastline of Cardigan Bay in West Wales. On your doorstep there is plenty to see and do but equally inviting is firing up the wood burner or sitting out on your own private decking and enjoying the peaceful and uninterrupted views of the surrounding Welsh countryside.
With its lime-washed walls and wooden floors, the Dairy Shed is a traditional old stone barn which has been transformed and extended into a light and airy open-plan space.
The living area includes a well equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs, a large sofa and television and a comfy armchair set in front of a working wood burning stove.
Push the integrated bookshelf to magically reveal an adjoining timber barn with wildflower roof that houses the bedroom (with king size bed) and shower-room. The inside walls are clad with birch-ply giving the space a Nordic feel.
From the living room, oak French doors open out onto a decking area with table and chairs and extends beyond to a large private garden with fruit trees.
Although tucked away in peace and tranquility, The Dairy Shed benefits from wireless internet, so you can be as connected to the outside world as you wish. (We can turn it off too if you prefer no distractions!) Please note we are in a rural location and the Internet can be patchy, is suitable for surfing the web but not streaming TV.
The Dairy Shed is a private, self-contained building with its own parking area, entrance and a large garden with uninterrupted views out on to open countryside.
Interaction with guests
We (owners Dave & Sian) live in the farmhouse next door. No interaction with us is necessary, however, if there is anything you need during your stay, we're on hand to help.
Other things to note
Please be aware that the bed is custom made and is lower than a standard bed.
The Dairy Shed overlooks working organic fields. Sheep and cows are raised and hay and vegetables are grown and harvested depending on the season so you may see the occasional tractor pass by.
Contact us to discuss infants and children - there are some hazards in the cottage such as log burning stoves that may make it unsuitable.
We packed up our lives in London and moved to West Wales in late 2016 to fulfil a long held dream of a free range lifestyle in Ceredigion near the beautiful harbour town of Aberaeron.
Sian's father grew up in Aberaeron and we have spent many weeks here over the years and fell in love with the stunning scenery and beautiful quiet beaches - in fact we were married at the local National Trust estate, Llanerchaeron, which was designed by John Nash of Buckingham Palace and Regency London fame.
We own a collection of converted former farm buildings and The Dairy Shed is our first accommodation project working towards a self sustaining eco conscious one acre estate. We look forward to you staying with us and experiencing the area yourselves.
