The Pavillon is located inside a glorious private estate, considered one of the most beautiful domains of the Côte d’Azur. The estate boasts an award-winning olive oil and renowned historical gardens.

Tucked away from the bustle of the coast, but close enough to enjoy the fun of the Riviera, the Pavillon is a place of retreat, contemplation and rejuvenation. The atmosphere is magical and serene.

Historic yet fully renovated, this is an independent wing of an authentic family castle.

The space

Due to the various pools and terraces on the property, the Pavillon is not suitable for children under 12 years.

The three floors are connected by spiral staircases. (For those with mobility issues, the Venice Bedroom is located on the ground floor.)

Please ensure that both your check-in and check-out date is a Saturday. (If you prefer to depart earlier than Saturday, the whole week up to Saturday must still be booked.)

Please be aware that the Blue Bedroom is directly adjacent to the Honeymoon Bedroom, with an enfilade door connecting the two bedrooms. (This door can be locked; however the bedrooms are in close proximity.)

Therefore if guests occupying the Honeymoon Bedroom wish for total privacy, they should also occupy the Blue Bedroom — i.e. consider the entire first floor (with both bedrooms) as a "suite".

Please also be aware that the Venice Bedroom on the ground floor is located right next to the kitchen/dining room.

Note: Fitness facilities are shared with owners when owners are in residence, but guests have priority (i.e. owners won't use at the same time).

Interaction with guests

The Pavillon is a completely independent residence: the eastern wing of the château, separated from the western residence by a clock tower.

While assistance is always available to guests, privacy and solitude are deeply respected.

The gardens and fitness facilities are shared, however priority is always given to guests.

For security there are two gardeners (husband and wife) who live on the edge of the property, in the Farm House staff building.

Active times on the estate are olive harvest (November) and olive pruning (April).  The rest of the time there are just two gardeners maintaining the garden.  They are very discreet, and naturally provide visitors privacy.

Other things to note

Please let us know in advance if you are interested in hiring a Cook/Housekeeper for your stay (additional €1,000 per week). We can arrange this service for you, and staff accommodation is provided in our Farm House building on the estate.

The service includes preparation and clean-up of all meals, daily maid service, and running errands down in the village.

If you choose this option, please notify in advance of any allergies and food preferences (including vegetarianism), so that meals can be prepared according to your taste.

Guests must provide cash for grocery shopping during their stay.

If you prefer to prepare your own meals, the local village is eight minutes drive away on a steep, winding road. It has a bakery, butcher, fresh produce store and pharmacy. A large supermarket is fifteen minutes drive away (near the entrance of the highway to Nice).

However, in our opinion at least, the local village is not a tourist destination for strolling. It's just functional.

Daily morning delivery of croissants and baguette can be arranged for €15 per day.

If you would like housekeeping during your stay, please let us know in advance. Housekeeping can be arranged for €15/hour.

At late notice this service will depend on availability.

A small selection of local wines is available for purchase at the château (cash only). A vast range of wine is available for same-day or next-day delivery via a wine delivery service (which accepts credit cards).

Lunch excursions in the region are fun. In the surrounding hills there are perched medieval villages to visit (such as Peillon), and there are great restaurants on the coast.

Most guests prefer to spend evenings in residence. (This is why a full-time Cook/Housekeeper can be arranged, to prepare and clean up after all meals.)

Due to the altitude, the days are sunny but the evenings are pleasantly cool.

There is no need for air conditioning, because the stone walls of the château are several feet thick. The traditional Provençal shutters also guard against heat.

This place is just spectacular - we had a wonderful stay in this one-of-a-kind location! The interior is incredibly clean, the rooms are decorated up to the tiniest details and the garden, pool and terrace are nothing less than breathtakingly beautiful. Cate gave us a very warm welcome and provided everything we could ask for (even a lovely welcome-basket). We plan on coming back as often as possible - it's worth every Cent (and probably even more).

The Pavilion is such a breathtaking place - much better than in the photos! Our time there was wonderful, everything we hoped for. It was calm, quiet and the view is absolutely wonderful! Perfect for anyone who wants to take a break from everyday life and relax. The rooms were big and tidy, everything was spotless and although there wasn't A/C, the inside stayed refreshingly cold on its own. The staff is very friendly and doesn't interfere with your privacy at all. So, all in all, it was a very pleasant holiday at The Pavilion and my family and me enjoyed it greatly and would be glad to visit next summer!

This is a magical place. Very beautiful and exactly as the pictures show, or even better. Everything is perfect and the hostess couldn't be nicer and more helpful in every way. We certainly enjoyed every day during our 2-week stay. I hope to come back!

This is a magic place and one of the best kept secrets in the South of France. It has been a private family estate for centuries and only recently opened its gates to a few selected airbnb guests. I have traveled the world and feel grateful that I had the opportunity to spend the most relaxed week of my life with my father from Germany, daughter from Los Angeles and a friend from Massachusetts in this gorgeous castle. What a find. A haven, where one can relax in the sun or shade, escape the world for a bit, or within half an hour's drive can find the best restaurants, museums and beaches. But you really want to return to this haven and delight in listening to the birds and bees in the linden trees, and daydream at the pool filled with spring water, watching the dragon flies during the day and bats at dusk. There are so many beautiful spots in the gardens, which were carefully cultivated over hundreds of years. Trees so old, you feel their strength and sense their stories, when resting on one of the stone benches to meditate. And then, there is the fun and laughter and generosity of Cate, the hostess, who couldn’t be more charming, interesting and welcoming. Even before arriving, communication was heart felt and a breeze. At her chateau, we felt right at home in our country kitchen, in the comfort of the salon and bedrooms, on the terrace, or, my daughter’s favorite, in the round study at the top of the tower, which allows a spectacular view and writers to feel inspired. Always hard to tell, what was the best moment of the vacation, when they were so many beautiful ones on this trip. It might have been filling the glass bottles outside at the springs with the sweetest clearest fresh water, to carry it back to the kitchen and pick a lemon or two on the way. This treat, to drink this fetched, cool spring water, felt extra special and delicious, worth telling others, one story from our perfect vacation. We all hope we will return one day.

This place is exquisite! The whole experience was wonderful, and we're already planning our return. It’s a bit like entering a dream. The gardens are magical, as if you’ve walked into a movie. Or traveled back in time. The house offered every comfort we needed. We slept incredibly well, and throwing open the shutters every morning was a joy. Loved the deep old-fashioned bathtub. Especially the fact that all the water comes straight from the springs, so you’re bathing in fresh spring water. Amazing. The olive oil is delicious, we didn't expect this detail — we're not surprised it's won so many awards, it elevates every meal. The only complaint we had was that the fridge was temperamental, freezing our food even when set at the lowest temperature. But they already ordered a replacement fridge, so that problem is being addressed. We imagined that we would do many excursions in the region, but in the end we had little desire to leave the property! So the only recommendation we can offer is the coastal cliff walk at Cap Ferrat, which was gorgeous. We left feeling transformed. What a healing and special place. And we would especially recommend this space to anyone who wants to concentrate on a creative project, since the atmosphere is so inspiring and serene.
