The Cottage at the Creek is a popular dedicated vacation rental located about 15 minutes from town and most area attractions. It is under new ownership and management as of Jan 2017. WIFI for streaming has been added among full furnishing facelift. It is in a sublime meadow with direct access to S. Sylamore Creek (pronounced like Sycamore). You will experience remote Ozark Hollow Living and most creature comforts for 4 people. Feels guilty to admit it, but probably a fave of owner's several.

The space

Cottage is 650sf+-. It is on one level with a few steps leading up to it. It is located about 100 yards above the floodplain of the creek. You amble down the meadow to access the creek. Creek is good always except in high water events. You can expect it to be about 1-3 foot deep on average. It is spring fed, year round, gin clear and healthy. Trout will run it winter months. Smallmouh fishing is possible during higher water levels. (Please catch and release the smallies)

There is spacious bedroom with and a comfy queen bed that looks out on the meadow. The kitchen is fully appointed with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. There is a washer and dryer combo for your convenience. For dining there is a bar with seating for four. In the living room area we have two chairs and a very comfortable sleeper sofa.

Guest access

You have access to the meadow and the creek frontage within the property boundaries that are clearly marked. The woods and boulders behind the cottage are great for exploring.

There is abundant wildlife such as eagles, turkey and deer.

Interaction with guests

This is my friend Emily's cabin. I've been living on this creek for 10 years. My hospitality hobby is now my profession. I will manage all details of your stay and insure you have all questions answered and are a satisfied and returning guest! I'm in touch by text, phone and email before during and after your stay. I can help make intros to local musicians, outdoors folks and artisans if you ask. Most likely you'll never see me, but I'm not far at all. Gravity keeps me pretty close to this creek. Speaking of, have you heard about our local craft brewery? Gravity Brew Works?

Other things to note

* We rent 2 additional cabins in this valley. One sleeps 2 and the other sleeps 8+. The satellite image included here shows you proximity.

*last 1 mile to the cabin is steep gravel road. Sedans can make it ok. If it snows while you're here, be prepared to stay a while. As mentioned I live downstream a bit with a 4x4 truck and can assist - after it's melted some. If you're iffy on gravel, hills and occasional branches - be forewarned. An old Taurus can and does make the trip often though.

*cell signals iffy depending on carrier and location at the cottage. There is a booster installed. Wifi calling and texting now available on newer model smart phones. Needs to be activated in advance. Also plenty of apps on the market that can keep you connected via wifi.

*Dog friendly property. Please state your pet guest intentions upon booking. Dog fees: $45 for 1st dog and $15 for each additional. No more than 3 dogs allowed. Fee will be invoiced separately via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). We go to great lengths to keep property welcoming to those not dog friendly. (and we have several rules you must adhere to if bringing your dogs. We love dogs by the way and oh boy do they love it here)

We had an amazing time at Emily and Virginia’s Cottage! The house was very clean and tastefully decorated. We cooked dinner both nights and found all everything we needed. The location of the cottage in the middle of the meadow is just beautiful! Our dogs loved playing in the creek and my husband and I caught several bass. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable time and hope to plan another trip in the future!

We really enjoyed our stay here and enjoyed sitting out around the fire pit. We loved the rocks, and were blown away by the stars, we've never seen stars like that. We were close enough to town to get whatever we needed, yet far enough out to enjoy the solitude. Perfect!

Emily and Virginia's place has lovely decorations and the cabin was thoughtfully stocked with common household necessities. Plently of bath towels, bedroom linens, and even creek towels were provided! The cabin was very clean and offered local snacks/honey (if you chose to try them out). The property surrounding the cabin and the view off the two porches was spectacular. The property has a well kept meadow in the front yard with a mowed path to the crystal clear creek! My two dogs loved it there! Two downsides to the cabin (and this is pretty nit picky) is that the sound quality for the TV is pretty poor and muffeled and the dryer takes two cycles to dry with a medium load of laundrey. Other than those two small details, our stay was very comfortable and cozy!

We had a wonderful time in the Cottage. All of the creature comforts needed, and the stream and property was gorgeous. The location was very isolated, down a long lane, into a valley. We literally felt like we were in a temperate rain forest. The cabin was just the right size for our two adults and three small children. Our dog was very happy. When it did rain, it gave us a break from the sun and listening to the rain on the tin roof was relaxing. The fridge, washer/dryer, bathroom, air conditioning, and TV/wifi, all worked well. We unplugged mostly, but listened to music, and on hot afternoons our kids took a break to watch cartoons. Blanchard springs and caverns is a must, and the Ozark Folk Center was great for us and the kids too. We had a wonderful time.

If you're looking for a secluded but home feeling location to escape from the everyday noise and traffic this is your spot. The cottage was beautiful and the property itself left us it wanting to leave. We did some fishing down at the creek just a short 2-3 minute walk and my daughter caught a 3 lb Rock Bass! We say an abundance of nature from a doe and it's fawn, wild turkey's, beavers and their babies and a couple harmless water snakes. The town has several cute little shops and good food. Blanchard Spring Caverns was a bucket list item and was so much fun. Went to Loco Ropes and OK Trading Post for a horse trail ride. There is so much to do, we are coming back for sure.

Virginia was an incredible host. All of her responses / communication were timely and informative. She helped in so many ways it's impossible to write it all down here. The place itself was the perfect size for two and everything was updated and comfortable. I truly felt at home. The land around the cabin was gorgeous and felt in the middle of no where and yet it was a 15 minute drive into Mountain View proper. Will return to this site any time I can.
