The Cottage at the Creek is a popular dedicated vacation rental located about 15 minutes from town and most area attractions. It is under new ownership and management as of Jan 2017. WIFI for streaming has been added among full furnishing facelift. It is in a sublime meadow with direct access to S. Sylamore Creek (pronounced like Sycamore). You will experience remote Ozark Hollow Living and most creature comforts for 4 people. Feels guilty to admit it, but probably a fave of owner's several.
Cottage is 650sf+-. It is on one level with a few steps leading up to it. It is located about 100 yards above the floodplain of the creek. You amble down the meadow to access the creek. Creek is good always except in high water events. You can expect it to be about 1-3 foot deep on average. It is spring fed, year round, gin clear and healthy. Trout will run it winter months. Smallmouh fishing is possible during higher water levels. (Please catch and release the smallies)
There is spacious bedroom with and a comfy queen bed that looks out on the meadow. The kitchen is fully appointed with a stove, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. There is a washer and dryer combo for your convenience. For dining there is a bar with seating for four. In the living room area we have two chairs and a very comfortable sleeper sofa.
You have access to the meadow and the creek frontage within the property boundaries that are clearly marked. The woods and boulders behind the cottage are great for exploring.
There is abundant wildlife such as eagles, turkey and deer.
Interaction with guests
This is my friend Emily's cabin. I've been living on this creek for 10 years. My hospitality hobby is now my profession. I will manage all details of your stay and insure you have all questions answered and are a satisfied and returning guest! I'm in touch by text, phone and email before during and after your stay. I can help make intros to local musicians, outdoors folks and artisans if you ask. Most likely you'll never see me, but I'm not far at all. Gravity keeps me pretty close to this creek. Speaking of, have you heard about our local craft brewery? Gravity Brew Works?
Other things to note
* We rent 2 additional cabins in this valley. One sleeps 2 and the other sleeps 8+. The satellite image included here shows you proximity.
*last 1 mile to the cabin is steep gravel road. Sedans can make it ok. If it snows while you're here, be prepared to stay a while. As mentioned I live downstream a bit with a 4x4 truck and can assist - after it's melted some. If you're iffy on gravel, hills and occasional branches - be forewarned. An old Taurus can and does make the trip often though.
*cell signals iffy depending on carrier and location at the cottage. There is a booster installed. Wifi calling and texting now available on newer model smart phones. Needs to be activated in advance. Also plenty of apps on the market that can keep you connected via wifi.
*Dog friendly property. Please state your pet guest intentions upon booking. Dog fees: $45 for 1st dog and $15 for each additional. No more than 3 dogs allowed. Fee will be invoiced separately via (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN). We go to great lengths to keep property welcoming to those not dog friendly. (and we have several rules you must adhere to if bringing your dogs. We love dogs by the way and oh boy do they love it here)
No one under 25 may book without prior approval
Pets incur fee. Please pick up after their business near the property.

Emily Conley — An outdoors enthusiast and small town girl at heart, Emily Conley was first introduced to Mountain View when she signed up to run the Sylamore 25k trail race in 2009 with a group of friends. She came back every year for the event and eventually purchased a small cabin in 2014, which we now call Studio at the Creek. She and her three kids have made many wonderful memories in Mountain View and come from their home in Memphis as often as possible to fish, hike, swim, and enjoy the simplicity and beauty of the area. Emily has continued to invest in this remarkable area which she says feels like home.
