Comfortable, modern and light appartment with high ceilings, cosy wood stove and floor heating (and cooling). Beautiful polder views near the river Amstel (swimming), 15 km from Amsterdam city centre and Schiphol. Having a car or bike is needed for our location. No kitchen but water cooker, oven, micro wave and small fridge availlable.

We have 2 bikes available for rent @ €7,50 per day, max €35 for the whole stay. Our canoe is availlable for €10 per day.

The space

The appartment is adjacent to our house. Only oven, micro wave, water cooker and small fridge availlable. Excellent (take away) restaurants nearby! Many adresses in our information map availlable.

Light and airy living room with high ceiling and woodstove. Acces to large shared garden. Bedroom with double bed, bathroom with luxury shower, sink and toilet.

Guest access

You have your own entrance
Shared Garden ( so it is possible we meet in the garden)

Other things to note

The apartment is in a special location, in the middle of one of the deepest polders of Holland. You will be staying 6 meters below sea level. In this Dutch “polder” you will see abundant birdlife, cows, sheep, grassland and canals. But no streetlights so it can be really dark at night. Having a car or bike is really convient since acces to frequent public transport requires a 40 minute walking through the country side. There is also a bus stop at a 15 minute walk from the house which goes every hour. Enjoy!

Paul's place was one of the best stays we have had in Europe so far. The house itself is in a beautiful location near farming land and the canals. The scenery was so nice we had to stop to take photos just going up the driveway! Paul was a great host and gave us any information needed well in advance. The house was spacious, clean and very modern. Overall, we would recommend staying here to anyone and wished we could have stayed longer!

Paul's place is nice and big and something a bit different - I doubt most people would stay in a polder when they come to Amsterdam! Lovely comfy bedroom, nice hot shower and plenty of room to work or relax in the main area. As the listing says there is no kitchen - but you can make do with cereal and salads for a few meals and also there are tea/ coffee facilities available. One thing that I would recommend is to only stay here if you have a car - we didn't and it was just that bit too far away from things to be convenient. However, if you have a car I would say it's a great choice. Good easy communication with Paul the whole time. Thanks for having us :)

I booked Pauls space for my parents on their 1st visit to the Netherlands, communication was excellent from checkin to check out. The room is very beautiful space in the natural surroundings of the Dutch polders. Its quiet a walk to public transport (if you are elderly) but this is clearly highlighted in the description. The room is well appointed and much bigger then in the pictures. As per the description there is no kitchen which for short stays is fine but maybe a little less comfortable for longer visits. Overall, a very good host, stunning space in a idillic region of the Dutch country side. I would recommend hiring a boat to cruise the amstel river .

Paul and his family are lovely and wonderful hosts. I cannot fault our stay because everything was so perfect. When we arrived we were shown around and how things work, his home is on a farm so plenty of (quiet) chickens around to keep you company. Its a well built barn space converted to a very modernised apartment. I'm very glad we did not book a hotel because staying here made Amsterdam feel so special. Although a while from the city centre, the area is beautiful and peaceful, its nice to have a break from the city life. Having the countryside each day to look at can be quite spectacular. 100% will be returning to Paul's home very soon. Highly recommended!

This space is exactly as shown in the airbnb listing. Paul was a great communicator from the beginning. The polder is a fascinating place, surrounded by lush green fields and farm animals.

Paul and his wife were very nice, everything was as described. The place is perfect for open landscapes amateurs: canals and widlife in the polder just outside of Amsterdam! The place is clean and calm, we slept soundly.
