We were going up to Tahoe for the weekend and were delighted about the cheap listing for the holidays. Kent was great as a host - he gave timely, thoughtful, and professional responses to any questions I had. Unfortunately, the 3 stars is for the overall experience. When we entered the condo, we expected housekeeping to have already cleaned the space. However, we found half-full garbage bins, dirty towels, and used bedsheets. Housekeeping never showed up after multiple requests. Even when we hung the "Maid" sign outside our door for a whole day, no one came to clean. In addition, much of their equipment is outdated or outright disconnected, which was disappointing. I didn't try the mineral bath so I can't comment. Wi-fi barely works (we did get a heads up) so I would plan accordingly. The balcony view definitely looks better in pictures than in person. On the plus side, there is indoor heating which you will really appreciate if you're escaping the snow. There is nothing to see at the resort, but you will be fairly close to a few hotspots. Heavenly Ski Resort is full of dining options and holiday activities. I also recommend checking out Emerald Bay for sunrise - it's absolutely gorgeous. There's a Costco and Raley's within a 20-30 min drive if you need anything. For a cheap stay near Tahoe you will get exactly that. Just don't set your expectations too high.

Response from Kent:
Housekeeping advised the Do Not Disturb sign preempted customary mid-week cleaning. I don't know if there was any other miscommunication; my personal cell is always provided to any guest so I may directly contact the resort upon any issue. Diplomacy & kindness is my nature toward guest services; surely your needs would have been immediately attended to if I was made aware. Rather than waiting until departure, I encourage any guest no hesitation in contacting me. I do apologize on behalf of the condo resort staff for your inconvenience. I believe the photos attest to recent modernization within both the room which has a private dry sauna, Jacuzzi, fireplace, balcony view, and to exterior features of the resorts natural surroundings along with fully updated saunas, steam rooms, hot springs tubs, swimming pools, & gym... even a masseuse is available. Absent being my guest, such is $50 each visit. Thank you, wishing you well. Cordially, Kent

Response from Kent:
Dear Elizabeth, we are delighted that you your groupenjoyed your stay, and thank you for your kind remarks – you are a clean and professionally mannered guest who is welcome to return anytime I have it available. Also, as another guest, Jamie, put it so well in that the resort is “a nice little oasis”. The natural hot springs along with much of the surrounding area as a dedicated nature preserve with ponds and streams allows great beauty within sight of the snow-capped Nevada mountain range. Aside the spa, there remains the excellent 5-star 1862 restaurant (albeit slightly pricey) directly onsite, with the 1862 Saloon therein too. Take care. Sincerely, Kent

You can't always get what you want... and money can't buy you love. Hmmm, I think there's a song in there somewhere? Also, drink at the fountain of knowledge... don't just sip. OK - that's it for now.
