The location of the Brook Farm was so great, short distance from Drayton, Abingdon and Didcot, the three areas we were interested in spending time. Lovely open space with horse barns and plenty of fresh eggs! Close by historic venues, great pubs and shopping. Our host was very accommodating and welcoming. Even though we had a car, we were very close to bus, train and taxi options. I definitely will return !

Shippen Cottage is very comfortable. It has everything you require in a self catering cottage. Pam is a great host- she thoughtfully provides a few goodies to alleviate having to get to the shops immediately and she lets you get on with your holiday with no interference. It was exceptionally hot during our stay so we had to open the velux windows windows as wide as possible. This meant though, that we felt our privacy was a little compromised- take a dressing gown or at least pyjamas!! You are visible to the farmhouse, and your neighbours -from the bedrooms when the windows are wide open and the stairway window has no curtain or blind. Shippen cottage is in the countryside- rural but close to shops and pubs. Easy access to Oxford centre. Good place to stay.

Lovely little terraced cottage set in a rural location. Pros - rural, quiet, had all the space we needed as a family of 5, hosts very helpful with late arrival (key simply left in door, just what we needed), good communication in run up to our stay, children loved the play farm set and the storybooks, safe enclosed rear yard. House was warm and heating worked well. Cons - cottage is close to a very fast road and there are no gates on the driveway area, a consideration when you have young children. There is however a very safe fully enclosed rear yard with playhouse. There was heavy rain during our stay and there were 3 or 4 leaking points under which we had to place buckets which collected a significant quantity of water. Stairway is a wooden spiral construction which was just about OK for our 4 and nearly 3 year olds but would have been dangerous for any mobile children under about 2.5 years. Travel cot could do with upgrading. Watch out for low beams upstairs! Overall, could do with a bit of TLC and parents with children under 2 should be aware of potential hazards but a lovely cottage in a lovely and useful location. Would use again.
