Snorkeling Kapoho Tide Pools is a unique and fantastic experience, the best on the Hilo side of things. Interaction with guests

I will be out of town from May thru november . Jamie will be managing my homes. Her tel. nos. are (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) and (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN).
Please keep fans and lights off in all rooms when not room. Night lights are provided in each room to conserve and conscious.
I encourage people to put their compost in the compost containers under the sink and when full, empty in big compost bin under banana trees between my 2 houses.
The 3 large trash cans for garbage (other than cans and bottles that i recycle) are downstairs next to the lanai. I empty garbage on Tuesdays usually.
Guests have use of a coin operated washing machine and dryer on 2nd floor lanai so when shopping, remember laundry soap, etc.
For the least expensive food, I recommend shopping in Hilo as it has Safeway, KTA, Sack n Save and Cost u Less (great for bulk.) For health food stores; Abundant Life and Island Naturals. The best deals are at Cost u Less and local farmers markets which are in Pahoa and Makuu Market on Sunday. There are farmers markets in Hilo on Saturday and Wedesday. Keaau also has a health food store and a Food Land and a daily outdoor market that is great and interesting and fun. It has restaurants, fresh produce, furniture stores, etc. Pahoa has a very expensive health food store, another Island Naturals and a Malama Market as well a.nd lots of great restaurants including fresh fish at Pahoa Fish in the Malama market mall next to Subway.
Please treat my home very (URL HIDDEN) is a very special place that deserves respect and to be kept clean.
Enjoy your stay here in beautiful special Hawaii.
I am next door or a call away and ready to help you in any way I can and to answer any of your questions.
We also have the ability to rent both floors of the duplex upon request. This enables large groups to come 10-11 people can then be together under the same roof!
Thank you and Aloha, Arya i ask all guests to leave my home clean and all dishes washed and put away. i furnish brooms, mops, a vacuum so that you can live in a clean environment and respect my home. also i ask all guests to compost the compostables and leave a bin under the kitchen sink to put all scraps. when full kindly empty in the composter between my 2 houses nestled in the banana trees. i believe in caring for our Mother Earth and giving back. Also i leave a gray plastic bin to put all cans and bottles into. again, i believe in respect and consideration for others homes as well as for the Earth. thank you, arya

A great place to live. Close to the tide pool, can have a computable shower after snorkeling.

We spent 6 nights at Arya's place in Pahoa near the Tide Pools. I am not a big fan of being surrounded by many people / tourists, so I picked Pahoa on purpose to have some quite relaxing time. Haiku was spacious for 3 of us, neat and clean with good taste of interior design. It is located in the neighborhood near the Kapoho tide pools area. We walked to the tide pools every day to do snorkeling - so much fun! Pahoa has lots of rain, but the sun comes out right after the rain. So it is in between wet & dry all the time. We could hear the sound of the waves and the frogs in the night. So beautiful! Reminded me of my childhood when big cities were not that modernized. Suggestions: 1. Do bring bug-sprays. There are lots of evil mosquitos and would bite you really bad! (no mosquitos inside the house, but a lot starving ones waiting for you outside) 2. If you would love to cook, get the groceries before you check in, Have to drive about 15 min to get into downtown Pahoa to get food from the restaurants. Arya can give you great local suggestions on eat & shop. 3. Not much seasoning / spices in the kitchen. If you want to make fancy meals, remember to pick up some at the grocery stores (things like sugar, oil, pepper etc.) 4. Laundry can be done next door at a coin laundry machine. Remember to bring quarters otherwise you cannot wash your clothes. (pick up some travel pack laundry detergent too!) We loved Haiku and Pahoa, and will definitely come back! Thanks to Arya!

yihan, i really wished i had met you ! i was not able to write a review . you are welcome back anytime and i am so happy you enjoyed kapoho. i agree with you so much. it is stepping back in time away from this insane world of frenetic energy. i am sorry that i heard from the lady who cleaned my home, that you probably did not enjoy your stay due to the way Haiku was left. it is so difficult to review an experience based on someone else's experience..anyway. thanks dear Yihan for your kind words and appreciation and yes you are ALWAYS welcome back! good luck to you in all of your endeavors!

A very clean place with a functional kitchen and a quiet location. Very close to famous tidepools, which are actually great places to snorkel, up to 15 feet deep and full of fish and coral. The town is a fifteen minute drive away and has some tasty restaurants. You can also use it as a base to explore the volcanoes and lava flow, amazing.
