During my stay, Martin was out of town and we were hosted by the lovely Tatiana. She was always available and answered any question I had promptly. Our room was impeccable, cozy, and bright. The tiled bathroom wall was everything! The feel of the house is just perfect and quite homey. One of the best perks is that the house is not right on the beach, so my boyfriend and I actually got to experience the real Tulum, its people, its authentic food, and scene. My boyfriend and I are more than pleased with our time spent at the pink house and would gladly return !
I booked Martin's place for three nights and cancelled at the end of the first day there. Martin's place is very pretty, impeccably clean and comes with extra items to make guests feel comfortable (water, a couple of sodas, eggs, fruit, etc.) However, the room did not meet our expectations. Below are a few points I wish I was aware of prior to booking for my personal comfort while on vacation. July in Tulum is HOT! Knowing this, I made sure to book a room with A/C. However when we arrived the temperature inside was 85+ F and still around 80-82F by the time we went to bed- even with the A/C constantly running. It made for an uncomfortable stay, with cold showers to cool down. Without an ocean breeze, staying in town really requires adequate A/C. Even taking a dip in the pool was not possible, since it looked a bit cloudy and Martin mentioned we should rise off our suntan lotion, since it makes the pool dirty. It may have been fine, but I've gotten skin rashes from public pools before and didn't want to take a chance. In addition, the home is located on the last developed road in town, with people living in homemade shanties across the street. I know Tulum is relatively safe, but I was a bit taken aback, especially when a hotel on the same street had broken bottles cemented into the concrete wall surrounding the property. I was under the impression that the rental was more "in-town", versus at the edge. The hot first day was the deal-breaker and with what I know now, I would have spent the extra dollars to stay at one of the nicer hotels in town or at the beach. Martin himself is a good host, but I prefer more comfortable accommodations while enjoying a vacation.
The property is as described and pictured. Martin is an attentive host and bottled water being included was a real bonus. There was also food basics in the kitchen, and cereal, eggs, juice, tea, coffee and fruit for our first morning. The property is very clean and well maintained and although it is in the centre of Tulum it was quiet at night but easy walking distance to shops, grocery, restaurants and taxi's abound on the street. Great Property. Would stay again.
We absolutely loved Martin's place! It is beautifully decorated, comfortable and conveniently located between downtown and the beach. Martin was a wonderful host and provided us with everything we needed. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a great Tulum experience!
Our six days in Tulum were nothing short of amazing, and being able to rely on the comfort of our studio and a cool dip in the pool at the end of each day was the cherry on top. The bikes were as convenient as the location, and we used them daily. Martin was a wonderful host and easy to contact, either through messaging or in person around the property. Our double birthday trip was elevated by the comfort of our Airbnb, and we'd love to stay here again in the future!
The place is as beautiful as in the pictures and conveniently located to explore everything in the area from Cobá to Sian Ka'an (a car is handy for that). The beach, ruins and town are easily accessible by bike. And well, Martin - he is an amazing host, even filled the fridge a little on the night we arrived, and was always helpful with informations. Definitely go there!
