Come and relax in a traditional detached crofter's cottage in the picturesque village of Torrin on the Isle of Skye. A fabulous base from which you can enjoy all the wonders of Skye.

The space
Torrin is a beautiful village on the shores of Loch Slapin, close to a gorgeous secluded beach and nestled between the Red Cuillin hills and the mighty Bla Bhienn (pronounced Blaven, it means blue mountain). Bla Bhienn is our favourite mountain and arguably the finest Munro in Scotland!

The cottages been in our family for over 150 years. In 2017 we've completed a full upgrade of the whole cottage. It's wonderfully homely and comfortable and very very peaceful.

Ground Floor
Cosy L-shaped living room with log/coal burning stove
TV, DVD player, books, maps and games.
Very well equipped kitchen with fridge/freezer, electric cooker, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Dining room seats six.
Spacious twin bedroom
Toilet with wash basin
Fabulous sun porch overlooking the garden, complete with chaise longue - a great place to relax after a day's exploring!

Upstairs
Master bedroom with kingsize bed
Twin bedroom
Bathroom with electric shower, WC and wash basin.

Double glazed throughout
Electric heating system throughout
Log/coal burning stove

As a traditional cottage, the stairs are rather steep and narrow so care should be taken at all times.

Large cultivated mature garden with further grounds surrounding the house.

Our cottage is situated up a track off the main road. There's free parking with room for two cars in the drive on our property.

The cottage is in the village of Torrin, 7 miles from Broadford which is a lovely town with a beautiful bay and views to the mainland. It has a good variety of shops, including an artisan bakery, craft shops and Skye candles plus a really excellent Co-Op supermarket, 24 hour garage and chemist. There is a doctor, hospital, dentist, church also. There are restaurants, cafes, fish and chip shop and hotel bars. And there are two ATM cash machines, a Post Office and a mobile bank.

Other things to note
Full directions and key safe information will be sent to you approximately 14 days before your stay
Please note as in much of Skye, there is no mobile signal in Torrin although you can get calls via WiFi
The internet can sometimes be patchy or a bit slow at times...all part of island life!

Hi I'm Pete and I live in Edinburgh with my wife Cary. We have three sons now in their twenties who have now flown the nest! I'm a freelance sound engineer and Cary has her own business. We love the outdoor life - walking, cycling, exploring new places. Skye is the perfect place to do all of these! At home n the city, we enjoy the arts - theatre, dance, cinema, exhibitions. We also like good food and a enjoy a glass of wine! I've been coming to Torrin since I was a wee boy as this was my aunt's house. As adults we've come to Torrin on holiday every year for the past 35 years and we feel it is our spiritual home. We hope you enjoy the cottage as much as we do. Please look after her, she's over 150 years old!
