A home away from home in a small New Zealand town in close proximity to some of our renowned NZ wines on one doorstep and our capital city on the other. The city is easily accessible, a seven minute walk to the train and from there only an hours train ride away to Wellington City. If it's wine you're wanting, Martinborough is only a 10 minute drive away. I have two chickens who are lovely girls.

The space
My home is your home when here. The house was built in 1910 and has her wrinkle as any 100 year old lady is entitled to but I have been modernised

My home is a 3 bedroom Villa that is larger than it looks from the photos. Your bedroom is spacious and you only have to share the bathroom with the owner.

The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils required if you wish to cook for yourself. You are also welcome to join me in the evenings to chat which is particularly nice in the winter in front of the fire.

I look forward to hosting you.

Where you’ll be

Featherston, South Wairarapa, New Zealand

The neighbourhood is quiet but the house is walking distance to the train station which will take you to Wellington city and Featherston township. Here you will find C'est Cheese and Everest who provide food and Hey Jude for quality second hand clothing. Our own french bakery and two very nice antique shops right next door.

There is a second hand shop that stocks historical military memorabilia.

If you wish to go further afield, I'm just over an hours drive to Cape Palliser and the Putangirua Pinnacles, a must see especially in winter months when the seals are in with their pups.

The Rimutaka Cycle way, follow the path of the Fell Engine, which you can see right here in Featherston, where it hauled the trains up and over the ranges. A beautiful ride and for those keen on jogging, an interesting, challenging and scenic run.

Note, it is 12 kilometers to the car park at the start of the track.

Hi there, I work full time but I'm a person who mostly enjoys just being able to relax in my home. In 2020, just before New Zealand locked down, I cycled 1100 kilometres down the north island. To train for this, I’ve ridden the local Remutaka and Wellington trail many times. I’ve also walked to the Putangirua Pinnacles, a must see if you’re visiting the Wairarapa.

I love Featherston and am happy to share my local knowledge with you. I enjoy meeting people and I'm a friendly outgoing person who is looking forward to increasing my world network via airbnb.

During your stay

As I work, I'm really only around in the weekends but am home every evening and love to catch up and get to know the people. I'm happy to spend time with them or to leave them to their own devices.
