The property is NZ lifestyle...that is with the intention to be self sufficient. A hectare of native forest shelter the house and gardens creating a totally private oasis with lots of native birds and magnificent views over Acacia Bay. Free range hens provide fresh eggs and an apiary in the orchard, honey. This is how New Zealand homes were. The room is downstairs with a king bed, a single bed and ensuite. Linen and towels are provided. Breakfasts available, 3 course evening meal on request

The space

Tranquillity, the peace of the native bush and the morning and evening birdsong make this place special. The frantic urban pace of life ceases to exist. The house is designed for indoor/outdoor living and is a spacious well loved family home. The garden is designed to reflect traditional New Zealand homemaker traits and there is always an abundance of fresh food and colour.

Guest access

Guests have their own bathroom and bedroom room. They are welcome to enjoy the lounge and garden, but food should be prepared to heat or purchased in town.

Interaction with guests

To stay you must have your own transport as, although it is a beautiful location, it is 6km from town and there is no public transport.

Other things to note

Tea/coffee is available in the kitchen anytime, and if a 'local produce' healthy breakfast is required, that can be provided for $15. A 3 course shared home cooked dinner for $35 is also a possibility. (Night before notice required)
Filtered water is available in the kitchen and the ensuite.

Beautiful place with amazing views of Lake Taupo over the magnificent Acacia bay. Fantastic garden and if you are a nature lover this place will tick all your boxes. Geoff was away during our stay but our host Clarity did an amazing job to make us feel welcome right from the very minute we walked in. About 10 mins drive to Taupo city centre. Serene and gorgeous views. Also if you like honey well Geoff's got some top class honey from his very own garden. Loved every minute of our stay. Whenever I come to Taupo (For next years Ironman or just a visit) I will stay at his beautiful 'Aigantighe' home.

I highly recommend you to stay at Geoffrey's place if you're looking for a nice and quiet place, with great view on the Taupo lake on the way, where the host is welcoming and willing to share with you travel experiences, what to see and do around, around a cup of tea. I did enjoy my stay !

I am active, outgoing and interested in the outdoors (skiing, trekking, sailing, traveling, gardening) and the arts. My three daughters have recently left home for work and university. I have a lovely home outside of the town centre with a room for three to share (queen bed and s…
