Welcome to our cheerful, cozy DC home. Here you'll have access to a parking spot on our property, wifi, and your own bedroom and bathroom. While in the neighborhood order a pizza from Mama's Kitchen and check out the Frederick Douglass House, located 4 blocks from our home. We want to help make your DC trip as easy and enjoyable as possible, and we're excited to share our home in Anacostia with you.

The space

You'll have your own bed and bath that feel very private, in the rear of the house. The bedroom includes a full-sized bed and plenty of closet space. . We'll provide basic toiletries, wifi access, and use of our washer/dryer. We have an exercise bike and office area available too. In addition to the double bed we have an air mattress you can use.

Note that we have outdoor security cameras in the front and back of the house.

Guest access

The base listing is for two guests, but we can accommodate an extra guest with an air mattress if needed. You're very welcome to use our common areas and kitchen, and should help yourself to coffee/tea throughout the day. Feel free to watch a movie in the living room, or sit on the front porch and watch the world go by. We also have plenty of good reading about DC (past and present) throughout the house.

Finally, we're happy to provide information about DC logistics, transportation, local history, or anything else that will help make your visit more enjoyable. We've both been in DC for about 8 years and have lived in every quadrant of the city. And if we don't have a good answer for you, you'll have wifi access to look up whatever you need.

Interaction with guests

We both work at home several days a week, so it's likely that we will be home during the day for at least part of your stay. If not, we're just a text or phone call away. While we're at home we tend to spend time in the common area. We're both long-time Airbnb guests and know what it's like to just want some privacy on your trip, so our default is to give you plenty of space. With that said, we're also excited to meet new and interesting people, so feel free to strike up a conversation while you're here.

Other things to note

We will have a more detailed list of instructions for house amenities and neighborhood options waiting for you in your room.
DC is divided into quadrants. We are in the Southeast quadrant. Avoid the common mistake of going to the Northeast or Southwest.

My friend and I had a great stay at Jessie's. Their house was very pretty and accommodating. Downtown is minutes away using Lyft, super inexpensive by the way! Jessie and Brian were both great hosts, I loved the places Jessie recommended us to visit. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's planning on visit D.C!

Jessie was so sweet, welcoming and helpful. Room was private and impeccably clean, very cozy bed. Tucked away in back of house so you feel like you have your own space, but they are so sweet and delightful to talk with I didn't want to go to bed! Definitely recommend this space for your d.c. trip, they will make your stay comfortable, easy and a home away from home! Thank you Jessie!

We've been living in Washington, D.C. for nearly ten years now. I'm (Jessie) a former aid worker and political scientist. Brian is a sociologist and expert bike fixer. We love to travel and look forward to meeting new folks that like to explore too. While you stay here we're happy to offer tips on what to see and do and guidance on how to navigate this great city. We want to help make your DC trip as easy and enjoyable as possible, and we're excited to share our home in Anacostia with you.
