Wynnum, Queensland, Australia

Wynnum is really scenic and beautiful. The vast majority of people who reside in Wynnum do so because of their love for the Bay. It is a quiet suburb with a low crime rate. Walking alone at night in Wynnum and the surrounding suburbs is safe.

Hi, welcome to our home. My name is Melissa and I am an Australian from Australian parents. I was born in Victoria in 1977 but I have lived in Queensland since the mid 1980’s. I run a karate school with my husband, Rene (Sports Karate Australia) and also attend university full time on campus. I primarily take care of Airbnb, although we both enjoy having guests and meeting new people. Rene and I met in 2003 and married in 2007. Rene is a primary school teacher at Wynnum West primary. In addition, he also teaches karate and owns and operates an import company. Rene and I are both widely travelled. We have seen much of Australia, some areas more than others. We have been to USA numerous times, Europe, Asia and New Zealand. We have 2 indoor cats: Mr Fuzzy. Mr Fuzzy is our white cat. He is deaf. Not an uncommon thing in white cats. He was born in 2010. You might not see much of him as he is scared of strangers but if he decides he is not scared be prepared to be totally loved to death by him. Zincalume Zinc is named after The Simpsons episode where all the Zinc disappears (you remember the one)? We got Zinc from the RSPCA shelter in 2009. Zinc is a very laid back, affectionate cat with a really solid and stable disposition. Zinc LOVES living in an Airbnb. He makes a point to greet every guest. It’s up to you if you want to allow him in your room and on your bed.

During your stay
We have hosted for a long time now and are quite used to guests keeping to themselves. We are available to help minimally in person and we also provide lots of written information which is kept in your room about ourselves, our home and our local area upon your arrival. We have learned to expect that guests will be largely self sufficient. Our house is very large and there is plenty of space so that we aren't living on top of each other so to speak.
