We stayed at Susan's for 6 nights in the Sandroom and absolutely loved it. Right from the start Susan and her son Paulo were welcoming and friendly and made us feel comfortable. The room was great and all that we needed. The pristine beach is only a minutes walk away and Susan has deck chairs and umbrellas for use. We walked into Kailua each night for dinner which took about 20 minutes but is an easy walk. Susan also has bikes but we didnt end up using them. There are plenty of options in terms of restaurants, and Susan will recommend her favorites. We were able to wash a load of clothes in Susan's machine which was a great help. The pool/spa are great but to be honest we didnt make use of them too much as we preferred body surfing in the ocean! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a beachside location without the crowds!

Susan was a wonderful hostess and her home and grounds were beautiful and luxurious. The best of outdoor aloha lifestyle with a short hop to Kailua Beach! Will definitely stay with Susan again!

This place is so beautiful & relaxing .. only steps away from the beach where you can enjoy a non-tourist beach area and watch gorgeous sun rises. Awesome outdoor space to hang out poolside during the day or chill out in the evening with a drink in the hot tub. I can't say enough good things about Susan, she is so lovely & welcoming. She really takes care of her guests and will give you any tips and tricks you'll want for your stay there. I definately hope to go back one day, cheers! The Farhats xo

We just finished staying in the Sandroom for 4 nights of our Babymoon, and we had a great stay! The Room was exactly as pictured, very clean and well stocked. It's a small space but worked perfectly for us as a couple. Though the bathroom is tiny, the shower worked great, and it was very nice to see she provided shampoo, soap, and plenty of towels. The room is also very well designed with great updated furnishings, linens and decor. I loved the little chairs she had in there so much, I'm even thinking of putting them in my nursery! You can tell that Susan really put a lot of thought into efficient design and making sure her guests are comfortable. The AC was also such a relief during the hot September days, and it cooled the room very quickly and worked perfectly. The little kitchenette is also very well stocked. We used the tabletop induction cooktop to cook breakfast a few days, mini fridge was larger than expected and was very useful. The room is right by the laundry room which can be used by guests. I also liked that the doors are all opened by keypad so you don't have to worry about keys, but there is also an additional lock on the inside for added security if you are concerned. You enter through the back area of the home near the pool area. She has another larger rental "cottage" on the other side of the pool/hot tub. We barely saw the other guests and it felt very private. There are also plenty of beach chairs, umbrellas and beach towels provided, these all came very handy when we explored other beaches. Parking is super easy. Location is EXCELLENT. Home is a few seconds walk to Kailua beach. The private path is safe and very short. No need to walk across any streets while lugging beach stuff. Also if you forget something in the house, it's so convenient to be able to just quickly walk back. We would walk out every morning and see the sunrise. The beach is huge and is about 2-3 mile across so it never feels crowded or touristy at all. Kailua Beach had some mild waves/surf during sept, but Lanikai beach (which is more flat and has some off shore snorkeling, but is more crowded) is right next door if you prefer. You are also a short drive to a big plaza area w Whole Foods, shops, tons of great restaurants (check out Over Easy and Baci), its also the site of a weekly farmers market. Kailua is an excellent place to base yourself bc it's centrally located and is an easy drive to other parts of Oahu and is much more relaxing and laid back compared to Waikiki. Finally, it was genuinely a pleasure to have stayed with Susan. She is so personable and easy to talk to, but at the same time, gives you a lot of privacy if you like. Our...

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Sandyfeet retreat room for 8 nights. Susan and and her son Paulo are excellent hosts! The room is the perfect size for two people. It has all the amenities you could wish for. The bed and pillows are a dream, very comfortable! The kitchen is very well equipped. The outdoor space is welcoming and the garden is perfectly manicured. Susan has put together a wonderful resource book for her guests listing all the best restaurants in Kailua. The list is very comprehensive. We dined at several of them, and were never disappointed. Lili, her darling dog, is a sweetheart and we loved having her around. The location is perfect: a 30 minute drive from the airport, a 1-2 minute walk to Kailua beach, and a 5 minute drive into the center of town where shopping and restaurants are located. It was so nice to be able to come back after a long day of activities and relax in the hot tub. We feel very lucky to have stayed here. Susan and Paulo are truly gracious hosts. We hope to stay here again in the future. Don’t hesitate to book a stay here!

Our stay in the Sandy Feet Room at Susan's was wonderful. The settting is just lovely with a beautiful pool in which to cool off and the beach just a short walk away. The room was well equipped for cooking and we enjoyed breakfast on the patio every morning. Susan was very warm and accommodating and made sure we had everything that we needed for a memorable stay.

Aloha. I am grateful for living in Kailua since 1966 and now with my son, Paulo, since 1989. We love to share our piece of paradise, steps to one of the most beautiful beaches on Oahu or Hawaii for that matter. Our home is an historic home (by Hawaii standards) built in 1937. We have been hosting in our cottage since 2002 and recently remodeled adding our “sandroom” in December 2012. Both the cottage and sandroom are attached to our home that we live in. Though our home is quite open we have created privacy on our side of the house as we have a large beachside yard separate from the pool area.

We take our hosting very seriously. We enjoy meeting and greeting guests from all over the world. We are available if you need us or just want to chat. We love to be invisible too and will respect your privacy and please respect our privacy.

I have one sweet silky terrier (6yo) who will wander into your place if you leave the door open. She is a hypo allergenic dog

I love to cook, read, watch movies, learn, go to the beach, travel, make a good cup of coffee, listen to music, entertain, appreciate art, walk, nature, listen to NPR, take in the hot tub, dip in the pool, drink wine and laugh (big doses). I love my family, friends and my dog.

Paulo loves all ocean sports, grilling, cooking, fiddling around with different musical instruments, learning, driving his truck, eating, traveling, nature, hiking, concerts, cultural events, and jiu jitsu. I just want to add that he has amazing dancing skills of which I am so jealous. I think he should do a stand-up comedy act. When not working, he is available to teach surfing and stand-up paddleboard.

Paulo speaks Spanish, Portuguese, little Italian and Pidgin. English spoken by Susan. I would love to speak French one day.
